Greetings all,
I'm new on this forum and am now realizing this may not be the place to ask, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience with larger logging winches of the Farmi type. I'm thinking of buying a machine that has around 120 pto HP and wondering if the biggest winches I have seen would be able to handle that sort of power?

Thanks in advance, Farmerben74

You may have already done this:
-you could talk to the folks at Northeast Implement
Farmiwinch.com
- If you search on Farmi 501 and Farmi 601, you might find a couple of references...
You will certainly have enough hp for it!
good luck

I bought a lower capacity Fransgard logging winch last winter that I use with a 29 hp PTO tractor. This thing is build like a tank and barely breaks a sweat so I can't imagine that a high capacity winch from any of the major makers would have any problem with your PTO, particularly if you only run it up to the rpm's necessary to do the work at hand.

I have had a Farmi 3PH winch on two 30 hp. tractors for over 25 years now. There are several different makes available now. Having a winch on a tractor is a very useful tool.
One word of caution 3PH winches are very powerful and can damage man and machine if used improperly.

Aviod side pulls, I would advise to keep your pulls within a 15 degree angle from each side of straight back.
