Longest Original Tractor Battery Life?

When I get those Ambulance batteries in my posession, I will evaluate the situation. They may in fact be AGM, which I don't really care to have. It wouldn't be the first time I am promised something, only to be given something else. I had just put in a request to a friend that deals with thousand of batteries a year, for a newer generator battery.

My OEM JD Strongbox barely lasted two years! I took a chance and replaced it with another Strongbox. That was just about eight years ago. So far, no regrets getting another JD battery!:)

I think it pays to check dates on new batteries. Who does that, though? I often thought about getting a strongbox battery but never did.. Maybe it;s just a marketing gimmick. Like lifetime warranty tools. Doesn't mean that they are any better. They know, most people won't break them, and can afford to replace a few. Then, put a few restrictions on the warranty to cut that down further. Like maybe, you need the original bill of sale.

2005 Montana still has the original battery in it. Just under 1,000 hours and lives in an unheated shop here on the coast. Lots of starts and stops throughout the day. Never has needed a jump or charge. I know I just threw a curse on it by saying that. Almost makes me want to go to S. Korea to pick up a new one...….Dan.

there's nothing wrong with AGM batteries. they can't leak in any orientation, and they can't explode. one drawback is they are less tolerant of overly high charge rates.. over time, they can lose water due to charging, they have one way valves on the cells, but, you can open the top, remove the rubber valves, and add a bit of distilled water, you don't want to add so much that you make it a wet cell though, you just want the plates damp, then put the valves and cover back on, this many times can resurrect an AGM battery, unless it has mechanical damage.. a battery that can be abused is a golf cart battery, also, the recommended charge current is 75 amps, and it's also a deep cycle battery.

I don't know about the battery, but both OEM battery cables on my Ferguson TO35 went out within a couple months of each other after only 60+ years of service. I'm not sure but I think the warranty has expired.

you should ask your dealer, maybe the warranty isn't expired yet.. anyway, copper cables with steel ends, even if tinned, are the problem, if they had copper ends, they could last forever..

Not a tractor, but 16 years on my F250 motorcraft OEM battery. Mild climate, unheated garage kept.

wearing a battery down seriously damages it, they are not designed to take that.. one day you'll notice it won't crank the engine anymore, even after charging..

I'd been running the snowblower most of the day prior clearing the driveway and left the tractor outside overnight. The fuel gelled up with temps down to -10 -15 that morning, overnight temps were probably colder. I was just reading it's best to keep a charger on it prior to running in those conditions ...fuel issues aside. We'll see how it goes from here I guess.
