For the 'landplanes' in use around here you would put a non-swivle box blade on there... you just keep dragging it around until it not longer scrapes up any dirt.

Now I have a guy wanting to buy it from me. :)

Now, being the good ole boy (post 48 Gittyup BB thread) that you are I would think you would put new tires on it give it to him and deliver it to him for free. Seriously, that looks like a nice piece of equipment and we all know one can not have too many implements.

Nice! Curious though- what would keep the thing from trying to work its way over to one side while grading? Seems like the force of grading would constantly push it to the side toward the forward edge of the blade, sort of like a rudder in water.

I'll give you twice what you paid for it right now. LOL

I think the blade 90 degree issue that you brought up is probably just from wear. It seems that to use it to dig a ditch, that the square end would be the one to put the point into the ground since the tires are offset to that side. The other end of the blade would likely see very little dirt roll all the way to the end so it didnt wear very much. Most grader blades start out with a tip on the end just like the right hand side of the grader as you are looking at the photos.

More pics to come later this am to explain the angle of the end of the blade thing.

Now thats a sweet little riggin'.....but what caught my eye was the field, that is some seriously flat country and the guy who planted it sure could make nice straight rows. Good luck with the grader, wish I could get my hands on one like it....in the same price range. Rick

linrick,'
the field is mine and is part of the farm I own and lease to a farmer. The straight rows? GPS my friend, GPS. The farmer has GPS on all of his tractors. It drives them and will make the rows nearly perfect even when following contoured land.
Yes we are flat here. I can see Lubbock 28 miles from me, from my front door. If I stand on the tailgate of my pickup, I can see another 30 miles or so. :)

Look at the name of the place I live.
Levelland TX Level land. Yep!

Ok more pics to illustrate what I'm talking about on the ends of the blade being different. This is not wear. It was built this way.
Also a pic of the adjustment per request and a pic of the label.
It is a Ditchrite built by Johnson Manufacturing in Lubbock, TX.
Probably cannot read that in the pic but I can when I'm standing next to it.

Speculation on the differing ends?

Maybe the angle on the side is to make a more pointed ditch? Deep and narrow versus deep and wide. Guess you are just going to have to try it out ;)
