Looking for a measurement on the L series?

I'm looking at buying a new kubota L series tractor but need to know the width between the wheels with industrial tires. Looking at the L3800 or the L4600. Need to be able to get over a 48" row of plastic. My dealer don't seem to have Any L's in stock right now.

The distance between the rear tires is variable and is determined on how the tire spacing is set up on your tractor.

Rears are adjustable from 50-60", but the front is only 43" on the L3800 and 45.5" on the L4600, per Kubota website data (actually, Kubota Canada website, which has more information than the US site).

R4 (Industrial) tires have a one piece wheel, if I am not mistaken. R1 (Ag) tires have a two piece rim which offers greater options for adjusting track width on the rears. Fronts are fixed, in any case as G-Dad pointed out.

Thanks guys I went to local dealer and found a L4600 and the ind. wheels measured 36" but it also had two piece rims so how much more can I gain moving them around? It looked like they were set as narrow as it could go. If I remember right the offset in the rims measured 8-10" and on the out side was 6". I do plastic much for produce and need to get over the 48" plastic. Looks like the MX4700 was almost a perfect fit for me but didn't think I need so much tractor for 6.5 acers. I see the MX4700 is 600 pounds heavier! I need to be able to mow my lawn with the machine too.

I think you would be better off with smaller that larger for the size of your place. The L3800 with Ag tires should clear 48" with the wheels set out all the way on the rear. The fronts would need to be flipped around to clear. Not recommended, but it is done and I haven't heard of any neg effects. Maybe one in 2wd would have more wheel space up front?

I defiantly don't want ag tires as I need to mow my lawn with the machine yet. I'm stuck between two models then. Mx4700 and L4600 what are the pros and cons of each?

It has been repeated on T-B-N in the Kubota Forum, that the MX4700 is a "M" tractor in the rear, specifically three point hitch lift capacity and axle, and an "L" in the front.

I do not have personal experience with either but I thought above interesting comment and retained it.

As for mowing with AG, I do with my l3800.

Really depends on how "nice" your lawn is and how soft your sod/soil is.

As long as I only mow when it's dry and I don't turn aggressively I don't have any problems with rutting or tearing - though to be honest the yard around the house is mostly rugged Kentucky blue grass and wouldn't be mistaken for a fairway.

I really can't see mowing a lawn with a tractor that size. I use a cheap ridding mower for the yard.

I'm with Bluegill -- L3800 seems pretty unwieldy for small-scale mowing. It'll do less damage to the lawn in two wheel drive I think.

Mowing 6.5 acres is small? It takes me 3-4 hours on my B2620 with a 60" mmm. It used to take me 8 hours on my old agway rider. I was looking at getting a 72" rear discharge 3pt mowing deck with what ever I get.

I have also just planted 150 fruit trees and plan on putting in another 200+ next year so I need to run a air blast sprayer and my B2620 just can't run the air blast sprayer. This is why I need to up grade, plus I really really really need a backhoe right now as I just sold my excavator. I listed my excavator on CL and it sold in less than 24 hours for my asking price, I thought it would take a couple of weeks. So now I have a bunch of open projects with no way to complete. I don't want to be buying again, but don't want to over buy either.

Not small, but small for a 40-50hp tractor. Huge lawn for a small ridder though. Some times better to have more than one machine, than one to do everything with. Smaller tractor will run a 72" RFM easily.

My house sits on 400 acres, but my yard is only about 2 acres. I wouldn't want to mow the whole place!

When you flip the front wheels and the tractor is a 4x4 and you have a loader your wallet will tell you why you do not do this. I did and crushed the bearings. Leads to bad gear and shaft wear_ all costs alot of money with doit yourself labor. I even needed a new hub casting piece.
