Looking for my first pocket gun.

There's a trigger block of some sort (click on the link and read the description).

I kind of like the holster, but I never tried rear pocket carry. I really wouldn't want to set on a gun...especially if it's polymer.

As far as weight, considering how light the .32 ACP Kel-Tecs, the .380 Kel-Tec and Ruger LCP are...I just can't see weight being much of a factor.

I'm always leery about buying a holster (of any type) sight unseen. I've done that more then once and I have a drawer half full of unused holsters to prove it.

i sit on mine all the time. no issues. those pocket holsters pretty much take up the brunt of the but.. :)

Wow....am I late to this thread. Just so happens I too am in the market for a "pocket gun." I have a few .22's, .25's and .380's but IMHO are not suited to a SD role, especialy in these Ohio winters when heavy clothing is worn. IMO the 9mm is mininum.

That said, you may want to look at the Diamondback DB9. It is hands down the smallest 9mm out there. I don't own one or have I shot one but most reviews are positive. Personaly I think the Beretta Nano is my choice. It is basicly the same size as the DB9 but .10" wider. I will try pocket carry, but also will order a Milt Sparks VM2 with the Kydex clips as that is my favorite IWB holster.

As some mentioned above, sure do wish Glock would build a single stack small gun.

in places with heavy coats, I'd ditch any hollowpoint ammo and go straight ball round on a .380

Well......they do (sorta) make a single stack, "pocket Glock". But.....its called a KAHR CM9 (or PM9). Check it out!

To me these small 9mm's are best carried IWB in the kydex holster system you mention. SWEET!

Kel-Tec PF-9, good price, 7 rounds of 9mm, reliable, accurate, small enough to fit in just about any jeans and slacks you can wear. i carry one every day!
got mine NEW for around 275 box with box of ammo and taxes!

I have got a few pocket holsters none work well so I just drop mine in a front pocket and forget about it.

Nobody can tell what it is and drawing from a pocket is a trade off for wearing shorts etc and still being armed I accept that gladly.

I didn't understand what your last sentence meant...maybe clarify?

As far as a pocket holster...I can recommend two that worked well for me:
Galco: Galco Front Pocket Horsehide Holster
Mikas: Mika's Pocket Holsters - Custom Made Pocket Holsters, Waistband Holsters, Vest Holsters, Tactical Pocket Mirrors And Much More.

Both are for a Taurus 85 snubby revolver (for me, but are available for other small hand guns)

Not impressed with it's size, Nano would lead one to believe it's very small :confused2:

It looks like a low capacity glock, might as well get a model 26 Glock. Though the glock is considerably thicker, neither are pocket pistols IMO, even though both companies refer to them as such.

The quest continues, size/weight, capacity, caliber. What is the best pocket pistol :)

Yep...and if you can't carry in a pocket, you may as well carry a decent sized gun (Glock 19 in my case).

The "plastic wannabees" are light and conceal easily. I still wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of one. When I'm boppin' around the farm and in the woods, I carry my Taurus model 66, 6.5" bbl, .357 mag.. Good enough for anything I'm likely to encounter, but not very practical for carrying around town. I like to match the appropriate tool for the job.

Joe

We have similar tastes. My farm gun is a S&W 686 with a 6" barrel, loaded with 158 grain hollow points. Not only does it speak with more authority, but I can actually hit something farther away than 10 yards.

For a pocket gun, I have a 642 that I load with .38+P. The current edition of Shooting Times has a rundown on .380 pocket pistols. Some are not reliable enough to be usable, others are pretty good. They recommended the S&W Bodyguard 380 if you are on a budget, and the Kahr P380 if money is no object.

I like wheel guns because of their reliability. The 686 is virtually indestructible. It can go through storms, brush and mud, and emerge from the other side in perfect condition. I haven't put it in the dishwasher yet, but I have cleaned it up with a garden hose after I fell off a ladder into 6" of sloppy manure. :p The holster and I got the same hose.

The 642 is a convenient little short range 5-shooter. I like it for its size and light weight.
