Looking for source for plated hydraulic tubing - if possible.

I'm looking to add some hydraulics to my tractor, and I want to run hard lines for at least some of it. I've picked a couple of good benders (Diacro and Baileigh) - and I've got a quality Parker flare tool on it's way. Also stopped at the local Parker Store today and picked up a length of 3/8" (unplated) hard line and some fittings.

But what I'd really like to find - if it's even possible - is pre-plated hard line in 3/8".

I've found a source for the stuff in metric sizes ( http://www.parker.com/literature/Tube Fittings Division/MSTwall.pdf ) , but I can't seem to find a source for the stuff in inch sizes.

Paint the bare material with "Instant cold Galvanized" spray after fabrication, then top coat to color.

I've actually used that spray galvanizing quite a bit. Mostly the Rust-Oleum product, but I think I've tried the CRC product before too.

I'm thinking of potentially manufacturing a product - which is part of the reason why I'd like to find a pre treated tube. Painting gets to be a pain - and it's probably not going to stand up as well in the long run as a plated tube will

Agree! For commercial product, a zinc or epoxy finished tube would be best.

How about stainless steel? More expensive though.

Actually see.see.onlinemetals.com SS tubing is quite reasonable. I just don't which thickness you should order to have safety, but they would know.

Check out McMaster Carr. I see they have Bundyweld hydraulic tube in that size.

McMaster is probably best. But I checked on that onlinemetals website and e9r stainless in 3/8 tubing has a burst rating at 20,000 psi and a working psi of 5000 at 049 wall thickness...

I checked with my HYD shop for you and they never heard of it and could not find it in a catalog except for automotive brake lines (lot lower working pressure). They also recommended stainless. 316 grade is shiny like chrome.

Seems like I heard years ago that plated tubing has a problem with flaking when bending or flaring. May have to plate it after processing?
