Mowing Looks like a Slope Mower.

Well, I talked with my Dad, told him about the Slope Mowers, their capabilities, and versatility and he thinks the Slope Mowers is the right PT for us. The Slope capabilities will actually be very handy for us (apparently there are some steep hills my dad often gets contracted to work on, which I didn't realize.) I did some research and the 1845 sounds like the machine for us. I'm trying to find a used, low hour 1845 or 1850 but if not a new 1845 will be the way to go (unless we find a used slope mower). Attachments most likely are; 60" 9cu ft Bucket, 72" Mower (off a 1460. Includes T12 attachment Plate), 60" Power Rake, 72" Front Blade, and Planter Drill with 9", 18", 36" Augers. I have yet to talk to a Salesman at Power-Trac (tried today. No answer at Sales). We'll be doing a lot of research before we decide for sure on a Slope Mower.

Question: Does PT Make a Contour Mower for the Slope Mowers? I saw one in the PT DVD I got.

No, thats a Boom Mower.
It's basiclly a Wide Cut deck Cut into 3 parts and each part Follows the ground better for a nicer and cleaner cut. It's used widely on Golf Courses.

No, no no. Thats my bad. I don't want it to sound like were jumping into this purchase. First, I want to talk to the folks at PT. Second, I wanna try and find someone here in Michigan that has a Slope Mower. I have a week off from school starting the 3rd so that will give me plenty of time to do A LOT of research. Phils who has a 422 recommended that I skim through all the PT posts and then I should have a bunch of serious questions. Thank you MossRoad for the advice.

Yeah, kinda irritated me. My dad said he called them yesterday and the told him the got a 2008 1845 demo with 25-30 hours with a Mower, Bucket and Blade for $35,000. Not bad don't you think? I wanna talk to them about it!

If the mower you show in the photos is Hydraulic in power, and withing the limits of the PT, there probably isn't any reason you could not buy that deck and modify it to fit.

All of us here modify other implements to fit out PT. Quite simple. Also gives us a chance to use implements that might be of higher quality or more useful to us.

What! A demo (read as used) for 25 - 30 hours (by whom and under what conditions) and they are going to give you a whole 1 - 2 thousand off? Unless they are throwing the trailer in, I would take a pass.

Thats what my Dad told me. I may be a different machine (he gets model numbers mixed up) but he said an 1845 sounds like what they told him. Thats why I'm gonna try and call them again today after I get home from school.

But really does anyone know about a PT Contour Mower for the TSM class mowers?

It just kinda bugs me how I saw one in use on the DVD but it's not listed in the price sheets. Well when I call them today I'll ask them. That mower seems like a better mower and more for our needs.

Touring Tazewell, it becomes clear that PT does make lots of one off prototypes. Terry was pretty helpful in sharing a number of the modifications that they have done over the years. If it is heavy metal and hydraulics, they'll do it- for price. I looked into a reversing tiller and it was pricey, so, I decided that I could hop off the tractor if I really needed to. As it turns out, I haven't needed to, so there you go.

Well, I just got off the phone with Chris at Power-Trac. He was very helpful with recommending a machine. The 1845 is the closest machine to our needs he told me. He also told me that if we go down there that they'll let us try a machine and do whatever! Mow, brushcut and other stuff. I wasn't really to keen to the idea of going all the way down to Tazewell. Remember, I live in Michigan. But now I think it'd be a good idea.

Also, the Lastec deck for the 1845 was discontinued because lack of sales.

when Power Trac starts quoting you shipping costs, you will probably find that it would be worth the trip.

I would probably have more Power Trac impelemnts for my 422, but I have always balked when I found that I would pay a significant percentage of the implements cost for shipping (such as the aerator was "hazardous cargo" and would cost $700 to ship... funny, because the Land Pride aerator that I ended up buying from someone else was equally as sharp and only cost $100 to ship)

If you go that far, take the opportunity to visit Washington D.C. if you haven't ever been there. Good for your education.
