SteveH_CT. I think this post was very rude and was not handled properly. There are plenty of TBN staff you can private message. There was no reason for you to post this, just to get whoever in trouble.

First of all Bob JD does not subcontract the entire line of CUT's. On the JD assembled in Georgia there are more US parts on it than foreign parts. Just because they get the engine from Yanmar the whole thing is not produced by Yanmar. The point is that there is just as much misinformation given by kubota dealers, NH, or any other dealer. I constantly see JD bashing on this site all the time. Rarely do you see any of the other bashing. But JD always comes up. If someone makes a bad comment about JD then there will be numerous posts to say yea JD is bad, etc. etc. If the same comment is made about other tractors it's always that is not the truth that 's a good company, that's a good tractor what's the matter with you. And when someone does come to the defense then they are pounded on. In that thread alone that you were following all you see is praises for kubota and nothing but jab after jab toward JD. I agree that Kubota makes a fine product. But JD puts out a nice mower that lasts a long time and does a fine job of mowing. There's nothing at all wrong with the 335 that wouldn't serve that guy for many, many years to come. But to hear the talk there it's no better than a craftsman.

What is wrong with Craftsman??? Why are you defending JD and bashing Craftsman????? Is this any better than the people that praise Kubota and bash JD?????? Craftsman are also fine machines. You are doing just what you accuse others of doing!! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

cowboydoc. . . I do my best to be very objective and not bash any brand, but as I do own several pieces of smaller JD equipment myself, I see that much of the technology is foreign, even if many of the parts come from the USA. As for the line of CUTs from JD, I believe I defended the fact that there is nothing wrong with foreign parts, but I think it is simplistic to say that "the engine in Yanmar" simply because the engine is the guts of the tractor and makes up the largest single cost item and the largest single contribution to the usefulness of the tractor. But pointing that out is not bashing. Nor was pointing out that the transmission is foreign as well as the engine (even if from a different part of the world).

I do think Kubotas and Kiotis seem to get bashed pretty hard on this site.

RE: JD 335 vs Kubota BX:

You said "There's nothing at all wrong with the 335 that wouldn't serve that guy for many, many years" regarding the guy who is comparing the JD lawn tractor to the Kubota BX, I've gone over the two different threads that he started that I am aware of and I don't see bashing,

I do see a lot of differences between the tractors he is looking at, and it is pretty clear that one machine is vastly superior to the other machine on so many different levels that it might look like bashing, but it is not. It is clear that the Kubota will do what he wants without straining his machine, it is not clear if the JD SX335 is capable of doing the same. And numerous people, including a guy who owns a JD 335 pointed out that the tractor might very well be lacking. I think that is very objective and far from bashing because the guy cited his own machine. I pointed out the shortcoming of one of my own machine as a similar illustration to why the JD 2wd lawn tractor might be lacking and also pointed to a 4wd unit that I own -without pushing that brand- but pointing out the major advantage of 4wd on hills. However, I think that some, including you, will try to advocate your brand choice even if it is not necessarily the best choice. That is reverse-bashing? Whatever it is, it does not really serve justice to the guy who posted the first inquiry. So going back to what you said, I think there is ample OBJECTIVE evidence to allow for a high degree of disagreement with what you wrote, but just because there is a lot of room to doubt your opinion, that in no way means it is bashing. It is simply just a difference of opinion.

Again, I am simply trying to be objective. I am in no way attacking. I have no problem with JD (although I have a problem with my local dealer which I hold the dealer responsible for). I simply think there is room for honest & objective disagreement within the bounds of civility.

Nothing worse than having to explain yourself /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

You referred to getting someone in trouble... I'm wondering who got in trouble? Certainly nobody that I'm aware of, and I sure am not going to run to a "staffer" like some 9 year old and vent about an issue I see creeping all over this board.

And the other part about rude - I have a real tough time seeing where or how I was rude when the very thing I'm talking about is in some way related to manners and ... rude remarks.

My bomb remark is referring to the practice of dropping into a thread and dropping a bomb just to stir the pot. That is how I took your remark.

I genuinely don't want to start yet another of the unending back and forth discussions that go nowhere other than downhill. If I came off as rude to you... Sorry about that. I sincerely am trying to get away from that type of thing in this online community.

Take Care,
