Last week my 9 year old Bassett Hound, Frasier, was on his last leg with a failing liver. Two weeks before the vet said to take him home and enjoy his last few weeks. By last Friday he couldn't walk more than 15 ft without having to lay down and rest for 10 minutes.
We put him in the car and took him to the vets to have him put down. I stopped in town and looked the back seat. He had moved and was almost off the seat and on the floor, I parked and opened the door to help him into a more comfortable position. He looked up at me,let out his last breath and died.
It was almost like he knew how upset I was at having to put him down and he didn't want to put me through it.

Sorry for your loss.... I know you and Frasier had many great experiences together, and you were there for him when it counted at the end...

So sorry that you lost your best friend!

They always give you something to remember when they go, I know mine do and you never forget. Sorry for your loss, just try and remember all the good times you had, that way they're never gone.

The last thing he got to look at was his best friend. I know you're glad he's not suffering, but we miss 'em so. Hang in there.

A dog is a friend that is hard to loose. Some people say it is just a dog but they are more than just a dog. Sorry to hear of your lose.

I think most of us can understand the pain. It's really tough to lose a good friend like that.

I also am very sorry to hear about your loss. If there's one good thing you can take from this is that the two of you were together when he passed. That's the one thing that's always made losing a friend just a little bit easier to take.

My yellow lab and I are inseperable...he is seven now but mentally maybe 6 months (a big puppy at 100 healthy lbs!!)...it does not matter where I am on the farm, he is focused on me. I've already told work when he passes I will be out a while. Mickey (my lab) and I will be sure to pray for you and Frasier.

It's amazing how we get attached to our canine buddies.

Sorry to hear about Frasier.

Sounds like he had a good life and he made your life better too.

I am also sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. From time to time I think about needing to put one of our boys down and I wish it could just end in their sleep at home. I know it can't always work out that way.

I think anyone responding to this post understands. I certainly do. I am always sorry for folks who loose an animal that has brought them so much joy. Dogs have a way of doing just that. We lost a great black lab last week, Rosie. Rosie.jpg

My deepest sympathies to you on the loss of your dog Frasier. One thing that I have noticed on TBN is there are alot of good people who have experienced the great relationship and bond that develops between man and dog and can relate to your sense of loss. My wife and I are still dealing with having to put our 11+ year old rottie Tessa to sleep two weeks ago this past friday. It is never easy dealing with the loss but I try to take solace in believing that there is a "rainbow bridge."

Sorry to hear about your loss of a good friend. A good dog is such a good friend that is always your friend with no qualifiers.
I know he will never be forgotten, I have never forgotten any dog I have had.
