Excellent news ! Take your time with the house - you will need to save as much as possible for the down payment. Much easier to do with a good paying job.
Things will work oout eventually - though maybe not the way you would like. Keep your positive attitude and you will accomplish wonders.

Good deal. The house can wait, rates are gonna stay low for a bit. Being good financially is a big deal.

Work went well!! Got to drive a kenworth with a long hood, long frame, and move tankers. The truck had a super 10 which I never driven before but had seen a few people drive them. I did just fine! I'm used to regular 10 speeds and single axles. I had a very tight space I had to get it into the shop. You had to swing everything at the last second bringing the truck into the shop at a 45 degs angle and straightening everything out over a grease pit!! Took me two try's and they were impressed!!! I found It quite fun! We completed dots on two trailers, regroved two tires with a hot knife and replaced a slack adjuster. I found it very enjoyable and I feel like I have a lot of respect with the knowledge I'm bringing with me to the new shop

Sounds like you have a job that is a good fit for you - congratulations. The other companies that tried to insult you with $10 - $12 per hour jobs don't know what they have let "pass them by".
Qualifications and experience win out - sometimes takes a little while to land the job though.

Great, diesel! Yep, in the long haul, it's QUALITY! No matter what ye previous shop did. Those knucklehaids will have it come back to bite them where the sun don't shine. Hold off on ye house buying. Remember, a house is NOT an investment, it's a consumable unless it's a rental income house. In other words, ye're not wasting ye money by renting a while.

my current rent is 1200 $ per month. That's with electric. Single bedroom no garage, no yard..... Thousands of dollars gone and they have problems repairing things. I signed in at a lower rate. If I break my lease it will cost almost 2000 $! That's why I'm upset. Others own for 600 to 1000$ per month. I only wish to rent another 6 months somewhere else. My lease ends in May with this place.

Also we signed in at 875$. They have tacked on so many charges in 8 months. Electric is costing 200$ and I'm not sure why. Everywhere else was 100$. Just stressful. We are still looking for a place with a 6 month lease. To break the lease here cost 2000$.

Glad you found a good paying job with a good company and good people to work for. Do exactly what they ask, no more, no less, and listen to your boss as to what exactly he expects of you/ from you. Don't engage in any company politics and keep your personal stuff to yourself.

FWIW, $ goes before the amount, not after.

Call your electric Co. and ask for a report of the last two years of usage on your account/meter. They can give you the info to track average costs/month. The meter could be old, wrong, or tied to something you're not using, like another apartment in the same building. Find out what's going on....
Save as much as you can, then move to a better place with fixed costs. A house is a depreciating asset, not anything else, and you may not be ready for that large responsibility YET. Not to say you won't be ready at some point, but if your current situation is what you say with what you're paying you first have to stop the bleeding of funds and stabilize your costs at an affordable amount to your incoming cash flow.
Head down, work hard, reduce expenses, save what you can for the eventual house.

Electric in Indiana has gone up.. KVREMC use to be 7 cents a kWh for the first 600kWh's then went down in steps.. now its a flat 9.14 cents per kHw with 'cost adjustments'.. The meter and other fees have gone up as well..

Congrats on the new job. Stay focused. It took me 5 years to get serious about the type of house and land I wanted and I had looked previously for about 5 years dreaming. All the while I saved as much as I could for a downpayment and money for house repairs etc. I didn't pay a lot for the house but it needed everything - 200 year old house - complete reno and restoration. The first 6 months we did the major interior stuff to get it liveable. For the next 6 years we did a major exterior project every second year - saved money the alternative years for the projects all the while paying down the mortgage.

In 12 years the house was paid off, 80% was completed. We have been in the house for 22 years now. The last 10 years we have built new buildings(horse barn), extension on workshop and some small outbuildings. We are mostly dept-free. The plan from day one was not to overspend and take on a hugh mortgage. We have known people that are house poor - all the money goes to the mortgage/house and no funds for fun. We have travelled a lot over the last 22 years as well. You are at the age that I started. If I had a chance to do it over it would be different. Sounds like you have a good level head on your shoulders to work with and can see through the BS. Get you monthly payments down a bit, start saving but also start dreaming... always good to have a plan and have a long term project to focus on. Congrats on the job again. Sounds like a great place to work.
