Ok changed out the fluid and per your tip, I now see it in the manual I cleaned the hydraulic systems filter screen. It did have some fine metal shavings, but nothing excessive.BX2230_Lockport said:Don't forget to clean the hydraulic systems filter screen on the side of the differential when you change the fluid. It sounds like that one has been abused or at least, ill-maintained. The amount of metal particles will neither point out if it has never been cleaned or simply abused. Unfortunately you will never know which. The fewer the better, however!
Kudos to the thread. Yesterday evening, I took my BX2230 and finished a small trench for spring thaw with the Wood's Groundbreaker-X (BH6000), scooped the loaded piles of earthen clumps with the loader (how do you turn up the lift?) and made numerous trips to the field, got back in the garage by dark and by kerosene heater (and a tall Ardbeg on the rocks) dropped off the loader and BH, stowed away in the garage for winter, put the arms back on the 3PH, took off the BX grill guard, hitched, leveled and snugged the ballast box, loaded on the front Quick Hitch hyraulic lift (spelling or scotch?...you decide) and proceeded to hitch the BX2750B front mount snow blower. Finally, connected the long and short PTO shafts, bolted the manual chute rotator arm, tested and parked to wait for the first snow.
Yup, does just about anything doesn't it?![]()

I was a little nervous about getting the O rings back in with out accidentally crushing one, but they seem to seat nicely in there little groove.
I put a new set of turf tires on it. Now need to change the engine oil with Mobil one, buy some anti gel conditioner and magnetic heater. Anyone have any experience with these little heaters? Seems like a much simpler solution than the block heater setup.
