Getting ready to do the 50hr service on the U5030.
Has anyone else done the 50hr service and what problems did you have? Are there two oil drain plugs in the S4S engine. When you did the fuel filter did you have to bleed the fuel system? What engine oil did you use?

Yes the oil pan has two drain plugs because the pan is made with a valley to
allow the front drive shaft to clear. Both the oil and the hydraulic filter came off rather hard. I think the engine is painted with filters in place and the paint makes them stick. At my 200 hour service they came off fine.
Be sure to clean any metal fines from the magnetized plugs on the front axles.There are three plugs you need to pull all to be sure of a proper drain.
As for the fuel filter, I haven't changed mine yet, need to do that.

There are three plugs on the front axles! Did you do hydraulic oil filter and change too. Any trick to that? Do you have to bleed hydraulic system on a change or just fill.

Three drain plugs, one on the bottom of each hub and one on the bottom
of the front end. Also there is a fill plug on each hub as well as the plug
on the side of the front end that is were you fill to for correct level.
The owners manual has all seven plugs listed. My tractor came with all these plugs painted white. I don't know if the factory did this or my dealer
had it done. If yours aren't painted, I would , make it a little easier next
time. As for the hydraulic filter, be ready with the new one as the oil
keeps right on coming. You will loose close to a gallon, including what
was in the old filter, but I see no way around it. If you have a clean
pan under the spill you could catch some of it. Hope this helps

with my U-5030, really like the thing.

Just did the 50 hour service on my Kubota B3200. I had been reading about the loss of hydro fluid when changing the filters. For $7 I purchased a flat 10 quart catch pan at wally world. I located a drain plug down by the mid PTO. It was very low on the transmission. I drained 10 quarts and put the plug back in. When I removed the filters there was only a dribble from the oil still in the filter. Way less mess than what I had been reading about.

Since the catch pan had never been used I poured the oil back in at the fill plug and topped off with new. Seems like a no brainer now that I have it done. You might use a funnel that has a screen just to assure that nothing but oil goes back in the transmission.

Sure seems like the transmission is not as noisy now.
