LT 180 sputters when backing up

I had the tranny out several different times to change the oil & the last time I actually took the tranny apart because it was not hardly moving the tractor at all and making a howling noise. I tore the tranny apart and found some grooves in the valve body & rotors. They were no more than .002 deep so I took some real fine emery cloth & put it on a surface plate and polished the surfaces until the grooves were removed. Put a new filter in & filled with 5W-50. Thing has about 50 hours on it & I actually think it is stronger now than when it was new.
Sorry, did not mean to get off course of the switch subject.

That switch is what knows when the pedal is pushed into reverse.

Then I assume this switch ties all of the other safety stuff pertaining to the RIO together? You suggested disconnecting it. Would I have to jump the wires together or just disconnect???

For a test to narrow the problem, just unhook the connector and keep it out of harm's way.

May just need to move the switch so that the reverse lever/linkage is not aligned with the switch.. that is how I had to do the X485.. could not put a wire jumper in to trick the RIO (like was possible with the seat switch).

Just an update. I unhooked the switch @ the tranny & it solved the problem. I have since hooked back up the brake switch & the seat switch which I had bypassed to try to figure where the problem was.
