What kind of problems have cropped up? I'm not certain, but I was told the that Kubota put Super UDT in the M59 at the factory....so it probably came loaded that way....at least that's what I was told. Did you switch it out during your first change and then go back?

Well, since you asked...I've been debating whether to say anything but we are trying to help one another out here..

What you said is exactly what I did. Mine came from the dealer with a mix of regular UDT and New Holland Multi G 134. That mix bothered me..... although it did work fine. Yes, I know that since the M59 is designed to run remote quick change hydraulic implements and that means it should be insensitive to mixing types of hydraulic fluid. To insure cleanliness of the fluid it has a robust and redundant filtering system. Good to see.

Still, the mixed fluids bothered me and so I with switched to straight SUDT at 200 hrs at which time all the filters were also changed. Within the next twenty hours after that I had problems with several cylinders and also the BH relief valves. In retrospect, those issues now seem to be from oil foaming and possibly a lack of lubricity. I say that because the SUDT foamed noticibly more than the previous hydaulic oil even when pouring it in, and I also suspect that may be why the hydraulic pump also immediately began to have a cavitation whine when starting from cold. That whine went away as it warmed up, but I still didn't like it. So after 20 hours of trial, I drained half the SUDT and replaced it with NH multi G 134. That quieted the pump and the tractor seems to be happy now. No problems and it works well.

Thanks for the info. on that I will look at mine while I finish doing the 200hr service and replacing the bushings..

The question I have to yall is it possible to replace the Trans. or Hyd. filters with out loosing a lot of fluid and making a complete mess?

Not that I found. I drained it all.

The bushings where the bucket curl cylinder connects to the quick attach plate.
Good news its only 16.00 a side so I am replacing both of them.

Click on little picture and arrow points to them.

Maybe that's why my bucket seems to have more play/make more noise when rotate it down to do backdragging. I do a lot of back dragging. I just checked and there is a little bit of play there where your arrow is pointing when everything is unloaded and the bucket just sort of hanging free and pointed down. Not much, but its there. But I don't see where a replaceable bushing would go. Do you have a part number?

The dealer gave me a copy of the FSM section of maintenance service intervals and it differs from the owner's manual :confused:. After reading opinions here I opted to changed trans. and hydro. filter and fluid at the 50hr service. Now I am at the 200 hr. service which calls to change filters only, I really do not want to buy another ~$150.00 of SUDT. I may catch it in clean container and reuse it.

rScotty, wow that is some thing else what you expierenced with the fluid issue, all along I thought it was taboo to mix fluids and you had to in order to get things back to norm.. I dont have the part number to the bushing here at work but can get them to you tomorrow just let me know.

One more thing just a FYI. An M5950 oil filter will not fit the M59.. Dont ask me how I know:D

I just hit the 400 hr. mark and am getting ready to change my trans/engine oil/filters, fuel filter and front axle oil.

I can't see how you could change the trans and hydro filters without dumping a tremendous amount of fluid out. Those suckers are hard enough to get off with the residual oil in them, let alone the whole load of it!

I'm gonna run the SUDT in the front axle....I asked about going to 90 wt gear oil, but the dealer seemed to think it wasn't going to protect any better.

$500 of fluid and filters to get installed tomorrow! Yay!

Construction machines run mixed hydraulic transmission fluid all the time. After all, it's inevitable when quick-changing implements with hydraulic power - and that just happens to be something that the M59 is advertised as being designed to do. Since the other brands don't have any problem doing that, and since the M59 uses industry standard skid steer fittings...... Well, I figure Kubota made the M59 at least as good as their competitors.

Hope you have fun! Here's some of what I found handy when I did it.

Before starting I used the BH legs and loader down pressure to raise the tractor up another six inches in the air and then put some 2x lumber under the tires and let it down. That extra space underneath made things a lot easier. Leveled it better too.

When the filter is off, use your finger to check that the pipe nipples which the hydraulic filters screw onto are still tight in the block. There's no locking mechanism on those nipples; they are just pipe threaded into the block on one end and the filter screws over the other....which means they can and do loosen up when changing filters. Not a problem, but tighten if needed. Check that the old filter gasket came off. It only needs one, but they tend to stick to the block.

Refilling required a few more funnel adapters and such than than I thought it would. Probably worth checking that out before getting started.

OK, so just attempted to change out the front axle oil. Manual says it should hold 13.8. I thought I had it completely drained ( I didn't check how much came out), but when I went to fill it up it only took about 5 quarts....then almost overflowed. So I ran it up and down the driveway a few times and check again. It went down, but is still over-full according to the dip stick and so I guess I need to do it again.

I didn't even get half out before it stopped dripping out. Any harm in running it over-full?

Ideas?
