That's also the first photo I have seen of one of the commercial TLB's with turf tires on it too.

Couldn't help but look at this one a few times. Not only is it rare to see, but I'm sure that many of us would like to see quite a few tractors sitting side by side, as well as some specs that aren't available. Anyone have one of the John Deere 3 series sitting next to a Kubota large frame standard L's? Seems like the Kubota specs out well in size and capabilities, but much cheaper (new or used), seemingly with a lower center of gravity (important spec that isn't published) and better clearance. (Yes, I know that the Deere has more bells and whistles, and that the Kubota is wide enough to need 6' implements, but many Deere users add wheel spacers and then also need 6' ). Seems that something like a used L4600 would be the perfect do it all tractor. Light enough to use in the yard but powerful enough to run a 6' brush cutter. Nice picture, The m59 has a big price tag too.

Full size backhoes are called 'full size' for a reason. Being an old fart I remember when the JD300 was considered big enough for almost any 'farm' job and the Case 580B for most 'construction' work. Seems that the l45/47 and M59/M62 would hold their own in both cases (and they also have that 3 point hitch option).

Old thread, but nice pic.

I have done a few side x side shots with the equipment I have owned. L3400, Mx5100, Ford 4500tlb and Ford 5500tlb.

A single picture of a piece of equipment doesn't put things in perspective unless there is something familiar in the picture to scale it with.

Look at a single pic of a D11 dozer. Looks more or less the same as a D3.

But put both side by side in the pic and WOW

Weight M to the L's is within 1,500 Lbs. The L TLB's all have too small tires, and some weight, making them not very good in soft ground. The M front tires on and rear 43" tires would make a difference. The M could stand some larger front tires also.

Hard to believe only a 1500# difference in the two machines.

Strictly from looks alone, it looks like a 9000-10000# how sitting beside a 5000# hoe

Just going by the published specs. I think the L47 should have another 800 lbs of steel added to get it to 8000 Lbs, and the M62 another 1200 Lbs added tor so so it weighs a good 5 ton.

Many thanks to CHDinCT for posting that original 2014 photo of the M59 vs the L45. Since then there has been some discussion of how the M59 looks next to a full size backhoe, so here is ours in the same sort of shot for comparing them. I'll repost CHDinCT's original photo again just so we have them all in the same place, too.

I'm showing the Kubota M59 vs a JD310SG typical full size backhoe used the world over. Since the JD310 has a cab, 50% more HP, and roughly twice the total weight & twice the lifting capacity of the M59, I was surprised at how close they look to being the same size - although any metal part you want to compare is much beefier on the JD310. The JD also has power seat, ride control, AC, heat, radio...and the list goes on and on...
Still, the Kubota is the more accurate machine and we use it much more often.
Enjoy,
rScotty
