2016 Kubota M7060HDC
Dealer has a 7040 open station just put together it has 1 rear remote, loader, R1 tires, filled rear tires 8x8 trans, hydo shuttle. He told me the fort time its a suhd then the next he just said su. Not sure what differences are? He is asking $33,500
Only few things I'll add to a second rear remote and a third function.
Then there's the always debatable should I get the R1 or R4 tires? My current MX5100 I have R4 and have no issues. I brush hog mainly and from time to time I go over thorns and I've had zero flats. Are the R1 and strong?

I'd look for a pre-tier 4 Kubota. You have, at the last, EGR and/or EGR and DPF, both bad ju-ju for a diesel engine. Look under the hood andf compare to your 2011 (Tier 3). Quite a difference. Tier 4 and 4 final have way too much plumbing...and issues.

An SUH is 2 wheel drive. An SUHD is 4x4 and what you want. ;)

Yes it is 4x4. I did see other 7040s at another dealer that said SU and 4x4 on the side but not seen it on many others

33K seems high if it's an SU model even if it is 4wd. SU models are bare bone versions for example, su models have gearshifts in the middle and i believe are synchronized only in 3/4th gears. indeed it's a great machine, but maybe do some homework regarding pricing. this forum is a great start.btw if it's a 7040 model, it's pre tier 4 (2 it think) best of luck

ok i can settle this for you real quick.i traded a 2010 mx5100 hst 4x4 fel with R4 tires for a 7040SU 4x4 fel hydro shuttle with R1 ag tires in july 2013.my 7040 has 2 sets of rear remotes.i gave $16,000 plus traded my tractor in.i got a tad under $18,000 trade for my tractor.so if i was you i wouldnt have to think id buy that 7040 in a heart beat.

That is a lot of money for a SU. I'd recommend to keep looking. See if you can find a slightly used HD-1 to compare.

If thorns don't bother the R4s then they likely won't bother the R1s. The off tread area of the R1s seems to be quite thin but you don't hear of puncture problems very often. Such a problem would surely show up on TBN if it was common.

we run 3 4x4 tractors with R1 tires.all 3 are filled with tire sealant so they wont get flats running in thorns.we have a jx80 4x4 that pulls a 14ft shredder twice a year.that tractor has been put in heavy thorns twice and it has yet to have a flat.thorns will eat tractor tires up.will put so meny holes in a tire or tube you can no longer patch them.a new 7040 is a rare find.they also tell me that R4 tires kill the trade in value of a tractor.thats what 1 dealer told me that i deal with and i pretty much gave him what for.

What do you mean by full 7040?
What sealant? I'm guessing no liquid weight?

As stated before, the SU model is bare-bones and has far fewer features than a regular 7040 model. Same engine if HP is all you are interested in.

When considering a larger tractor, I looked at the SU and the "full" 7040 and decided on the latter. In my opinion, the extra features were worth far more than the modest difference in price.

The tire sealant is likely "Slime" or the equivalent. You cannot have filled tires if Slime is used. However, foam filled tires don't go flat and are very heavy.

When you bought your MX5100, it is an economy tractor, not a deluxe tractor like the M5140. It does not have all the bells and whistles that the std M models have. The M7040 SU is the same situation, it is a different tractor than the M7040. 3pt hitch is different, seat, the actual dimensions are even different, close but different showing it is a different machine.

when i bought my 7040SU the upgraded 7040 like your talking about was i think $35,500.the upgrades was a rubber mat on the floor air seat with arm rests and a few other added things.but the dealer didnt want to come off the price.plus it didnt matter to me wich tractor i got.they really wanted me to buy a cab tractor and i told them no right off.

just like mr dixon says, su is bare!! but suitable for much cheaper than the full model if that's your route.... again, imho 33k is a huge chunk of change for that model if it is 4x su...i paid exactly that amt for my 8540 hyd 12 speed 2x remote 6 yrs ago....surely inflation/tier 4 couldn't have up that much...or maybe it has, but go for bigger dreams @ that price :)

Thank for all the info guys. I'm hoping to get to the dealer Monday to look around, I want it to be exactly what I want since I don't plan to get rid of it for a long time.

Went by John Deere today to price a 6065e. But I just don't like how the operators platform isn't flat.

Not my thread, but thanks for the info. I'm too looking at an m7040 HD tho. I either want to buy a 7040HD used or a 5140HD new. They are close to the same price (in monthly payments when 0% new is considered vs 5% used...) when you get about 700-1000 hours on one.
My question is: Is a 2010-2012 7040HD with 700+ hours for $26,500 too much?
Is Tractor House the best place to look to buy? Seems like everyone i call and ask for bottom dollar, they are like we're loosing money (BS!).

what are the specs on that 7040HD cab loader 4x4 what.but yes $26,500 is a real good price for that tractor.
