Thanks for the responses guys!

Sixdogs or others,

If you have time, would you do me a favor and measure the distance two stacked wheel weights stick out from the cast center.

Mike

Mine are off now to be painted and not going back for a while

but I can say that one weight takes you just shy of the edge of the wheel while two takes it comfortably past the edge. Probably not beyond the edge of the tire bulge but I can't recall. Look close at the pics I posted earlier and you can sort-of see. Why do you ask since maybe I can answer the question a different way?

You're in luck and I found this pic of a side shot that shows the weight protruding beyond the wheel. The second weight sticks out a little further than I thought. Take a look.

You won't hit anything with two weights on but will with three unless you live on the plains. What area do you live?

sixdogs,

Thanks for the info and the photo! I just was curious as to how much they "stick" out. On a John Deere 2950 I have I seem to hit the extended axle on things I shouldn't :( !

By the way, did you get your weights thru Kubota or did you get them from another source?

I'll add that my wheels are in the narrow setting so they stick out more. In the wider setting the weights would stick out less because the rim would be reversed. The stub axle on your 2950 is a danger to anyone because they hit obstacles like trees. Do you live on flat farm ground or hilly treed area?

I live in Colorado. The fields where I use the 2950 are open country ... Most of the time I have duels on it so no problem but when they're off that's when I need to pay attention!

I really appreciate all your time and info on the Kubota wheel weights!

In open country with two weights per side, even in the narrow wheel position is no problem. In the woods, problem, unless you space wide.

Also, you don't have to buy the expensive bolt kit for the wheels. There are two types of commercially available carriage bolts with one having a slightly bigger square section under the head. The small ones fit into the weight hole perfectly while the bigger ones fit successive weights. Those bigger ones really could be even a little bigger and I've debated putting a little weld bead on one or two of the edges of that square section for a better fit. Anyway, plain old hardware where they sell it by the lb saves a lot of money over OEM and you will never know the difference.

Factory weights are always worth the money but you will need to repaint them if you're OCD.

Any pics in the future would be greatly appreciated.

It appears in your photo that the lower telescoping 3 pt links containing the balls are installed backwards.

I have the rear rims set about as narrow as possible on my M9960 for mowing duty.

I limited it to one weight per side so as to avoid hitting trees, etc., when mowing. Two weights will protrude well past the outside of the tire. I would have mounted 2 per side, otherwise.

Very good observation. This is before I bought this tractor.
Looks like the new kid in the shop might be better off at McDonalds.

Actually, I didn't realize it myself until I tried to hook something up. Took me minute to understand.
