Spoke to the Maglite warranty dept., I have to ship it to them, they will overhaul and replace all necessary components for free and charge me $15.00 to ship back. Was told they do not sell replacement switches based on the serial number on the side of the flashlight. Explained the value of the light to me me, warranty dept. ensured me they would return the original light to me.
Going to think about this for a while, have had some bad experiences shipping items back to manufactures for repair. Would rather have the light on a shelf as a decoration than lose it. I can buy a new one, I can replace my father's light.
I may try to find a used unit on Ebay and swap the switches.
