On the bottom of the cable the connecting lever actuates a hydraulic valve that directs the hydraulic flow to the hydraulic clutch that changes direction. This past week, I ran into my first instance of the shifter being frozen. When I got it apart, I saw the hyd valve and called the Mahindra service rep, to ask if they had seen any instances where the valve had moisture in it and it had frozen instead of the cable. He told me the he hadn't heard of any with moisture in the valve. I didn't want to replace the cable and find out the problem was in the valve. Anyhow I proceeded with the cable replacement and it did solve the problem.
The cable has boots on each end and I did notice that when installing the cable it was very easy for the boots to get out of position, so I made sure they were on correctly before I buttoned the job up. I hope this will solve the problem for good and this customer has no more problems with it.
