Mahindra 5035 PST - Shuttle Shifter Frozen!

   / Mahindra 5035 PST - Shuttle Shifter Frozen! #41
Ok, what I came up with. I rolled some roofing flashing to shroud the cable and duct taped it in place, then I took some boat rubber bumper trim and duct taped between the cable and the bracket to keep the corners of the gap in the bracket from digging into the flashing. I hope this last a while. Probably will have to fix it again sometime down the road.

Now, I need to see if my dealer will replace the braided fuel lines before it goes out of warranty. Mine are not leaking yet, but with my luck they will start 1 week out of warranty. I should have gotten them to fix them when I had it in the dealer a few weeks ago, but it slipped my mind.

This is the bracket which the dealer ground down and the plastic sleeve I put over the PST cable for added protection.

Your bracket appears to be different from mine. That or he ground half of it off and hooked the spring in a different location. Mine has a knotch in the bottom right were the cable rubbed which made things worse and the spring hooked in that knotch. Yours also appears to be routed differently than mine. When my column is raised all the way I only have about 1/2 inch clearance. My cable comes up to the left of the hump in the floor pan. Terrible engineering and design. I could have wire tied it to the fuel line, but it had alot of force to it and thought that would be a bad idea. I could have ground the bracket down enough to get clearance but I would have to relocate spring, which may be what he did with yours, but I don't remember seeing the other whole in my bracket. I think they are different.

Yes they could be different but without a picture ... I think my dealer only ground down the bracket.

If he didn't move your spring, it was different than mine. My spring hooks to the front bottom of the bracket and the spring is also amost against the cable. In fact I could pull the cable toward the left side of the tractor and it was against the spring. I ground about 1/8 off the bracket and realized I had to much to grind to get clearance. It is still hard against the bracket, I just shielded it against the wear.

This is a joke that we should even have to be doing this. This model has been out for 4-5 years right.

You are absolutely right, and personally I recommend you call corporate HQ, its a joke a poor design, the quality is not there. I would definitely not buy another Mahindra. Its not my dealers fault and I feel sorry for the dealers the buck stops at Mahindra head office and the design/engineering department.

You have a kick *** dealer. It took me a while looking at your photo after glancing at mine tonight. So your dealer took the bracket off the tractor ground I'm guessing 3/4 off it. And welded the rear triangle on for a new spring location and to get it ridged again after taking away the strength. Good deal. When I tackle this I now have a plan.... Thanks. My dealer sent me the replacement cable. How are all of these not messed up????

Yes, the dealer took it off the bracket and ground it down. Not sure about re welding he very well could have. He did mention he had a heck of a time with getting the spring back on.

This all was a result of replacing the PST cable and finding the damage to the cable.

The first question he asked me when he saw the damage to the cable was whether I used the tilt steering wheel quite a bit, which I do.
