If you didn't notice that the truck was running significantly hotter... 'cause that's what happens - loss of lubrication and air/fuel ratio messed up - leads to hot tamales for pistons! But, if you've got a EGT meter and the temps weren't unusual or the H20 was good -- you might be just fine.

AKfish

No EGT gauge but the coolant didn't get hot.

Man, that's not good. I know two guys who did this. One no issues. The other spent $20,000 fixing his mistake.

Good luck.

I wish everyone would put red/green sleeves on the pump handles. for gas and diesel

Oh don't worry, the pumps at the station I went to are very clearly marked, the diesel nozzles are very green. I was just distracted or something and grabbed the wrong one.

This is why I will probably never have a diesel truck!! I KNOW I would pump in the wrong fuel at some point, so I will just stay with gas engines.

Gook luck to the OP! I hope your truck is just fine and won't need any repairs.

I have to be upbeat here an say I believe your truck will be fine...otherwise if the engine was starved for lubricants it would have seized or at least been so hot you would have had to know it....I say you caught it in time and had enough diesel in there to maintain enough of the proper mix and you did not drive that far....I think you are in good shape....

I'd be most worried about the HPFP. The tolerances are very tight and they have a hard enough time with the ULSD for lubrication.

Yes thats whats the biggest issue... I'd maybe drop in a bit of 2 stroke oil to lubricate the fuel pump while burning the remaining gas in the system..

If there is any gasoline left it is only a trace amount. I pumped as much fuel out of the tank as I could, put 5 gallons of diesel in, drove about 15 miles and topped it off with another 33 gallons.
