Next, came the excavation and demolition of the existing retaining wall and steps.

Finally, now on to the prep work for the walls:

And to make things really fun, I thought I should build a patio at the same time!:confused2:

At least we had some nice views from the office all day, everyday:thumbsup:

Then back to the other side of the house, there was a slight change in plans...

After grading out all the footings for the wall, I was told to fill them back in and make a ramp for a drillrig to come perform test bores and drill for a new well.

Oh well, I didn't need to stay on schedule at all or anything :confused2: Thankfully, this only put the project behind 3 days :confused2:

And if this job was not fun enough, I got a call that the dealer had apparently rented me the wrong machine. Apparently the 430 excavator I had was supposed to be on a truck to Canada! Oh well, they brought out a new toy for me to play with. First one in the area too!

So, like any new toy, I immediately started putting it through it's paces by digging out the ramps for the drillrig. All told, I was very impressed by the smoothness and power of the new series.
