Man shoots llama

Wisconsin, a man shot a llama dead thinking it was a doe. The man went to the house and admitted it and appologised. Llama's name was Snicker Doodle Silk.

On the farm when I was a kid, we had a guy shoot a holstein once while hunting without permission. I admit I'm not sure what he thought it was, but I'm glad I didn't happen to be out in the field dressed up as a cow at the time.

I think if you aren't confident about what kind of animal it is, you probably shouldn't be shooting at it.

How could you mistake a llama for a doe?! We used to have a llama and there isn't any way someone could mistake that long neck and fluffy hair for a doe. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I don't know. There are an amazing number of cows shot every year by deer hunters........

I know it makes a fellow wonder what goes thru a persons mind (if anything) when that happens. Our other place is rather remote with open cattle range all over. Once when we went up there almost all the cows had "COW" written on them with spray paint. I asked sometime later why are the cows painted? I got the response that if they didnt come hunting season, some of the hunters shot the cows thinking they're a deer. Go figure /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

You can buy from a llama supply house orange vest that will fit a llama.

Hey, in Wisconsin they shoot the hunters wearing the orange vests too, and in the back while un-armed, no less. Tragic, but true.

It looks like he's going to learn an expensive lesson but, it's good to see he did the honest thing.
