As I looked at log splitters on the internet, mine is not much different than those built for a bobcat. Although I could build them for a cheaper price than they wanted I would still have to have about the same for it as the ones built with a motor, pump and reservoir. I really believe that if I was going to start from scratch and build another I would get one made for a 3 pt hitch and adapt. Just get the one with a full beam or one that would be most suited to adapt. You would need to buy some hoses and fittings but you would have the valve, cylinder, wedges, slides and all that.

My splitter hooks up to the PTO for fast operation. 10 second cycle time at full throttle. I don’t run it that fast when I am splitting wood though. I estimate that with the pressure that my valve is set on it will do about 20 ton. I used a 4” cylinder. If one wanted more tonnage just go to a 5” (cycle time will slow some though
