No no, I lived up in Latrobe for one fall and winter. That was enough. I worked for a stone mason that liked to go up in the mountains and pick his own stones. I was really cold that year. You have to be crazy to want to do that two years in a row. My sons live in Greensburg up there. Ex wife too. The fall was really pretty, then the evil snow and ice came.

I do appreciate the links given.

In your neck of the woods I think. I will go in the office in a few minutes and tell you exactly where I got them.

No Sir. Standing behind the machine looking foreward it is the one on the left where the actual chain drive is. Here are some pictures.

Here is what is left of the bearing

If you look closely you can see that be bearing housing is galled.

Glad you found the parts, when you can get to use it, your spring fever will improve a lot. I keep going back to your pictures and looking at the rusty inside of the chain housing and the rusty chain, makes me wonder if it ever had oil in the cover. I just assumed that all chain drive tillers had the chain running in oil, did yours have any? If it runs in oil, is the bearing sealed and greased from the outside or does the oil in the chain box oil that bottom bearing?

Thats the first thing I did was oil that chain when it came over here. I am not sure why it was like that. The only thing I can think of is that the bearing was leaking and I didnt catch it. I am going to make sure there are no leaks or anything like that. It was kind of a pain in the butt to get apart. I am not wanting to repeat this episode.

General Equipment Company in McMinnville Tn. I have it now. The rotor support came John Deere green. I dont care. I am just glad to have it. Comes with a seal too. I never found the old seal.

There shouldn't be a dry spot in there, the chain is dry, the housings half dry..

there should be a fill hole and an overflow hole..

The new bearing is a tight fit in the new bearing housing. I wonder if this is a press fit item?

If you can get the numbers off the bearing or even take the old bearing to your local bearing shop I am sure they can match it up and save you big $$$$:D

You shouldn't have to oil the chain, the chain case is supposed to be filled to a certain level with gear oil, that's why I asked about the rust, looks as if the chain case was without oil and could have caused the bearing to wear and come apart. Can you post another picture when you get it back together?

Yep. I am working on it now. I am at the point where I can stick the shaft back onto the tiller body. I am waiting on some help to come right now. Somebody to put the bolt in the hole while I lift the shaft to its home.

So, I've got it all together. What oil do yall recommend for the chain drive. I dont have an owners manual. I used 80-90 when I got it but I dont know it that is right or not. Any recommendations?

I'd use the 80/90 gear oil that you have, and as Jake said, there should be a fill hole near the top and a oil level check hole below that, just fill to the check hole and have some fun.

Mjdtexan, is the bearings pressed into the housing. My tiller, like yours except it is a w 125, has been sitting outside for nine years so I though I better take the rotor shaft off and clean the old grease out of the bearing opposite the chain. Can I just take the two housing off and get the rotor shaft off? Does the shaft just slip into the bearing or what? Also would I need to replace anything once I get the shaft off and to put it back on? My tiller was never used to my knowledge so the bearings and seals should be good. My concern are do the seals need to be replaced once I take the shaft off. Thanks Larry

Do you have access to the online manual for your tiller?

The bearing is not press fit but it is tight. I took and used a brass hammer to get my bearing in.

To get my shaft off I unbolted the housing on both ends of the shaft. You will need a gear puller to get the sprocket off of the shaft. You will also need snap ring pliars to get the snap rings off. It can be done with the right needle nose pliars. Dont loose the washer. On the non chain side of the shaft there is only a gasket and mine came off in good shape. If you dont see any leaks in that side leave it alone but wipe out the old grease and replace with good grease.

https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&...&sig=AHIEtbSqGamEUexb1gBBKAMPMfVUGUEyKg&pli=1 <---------- That is my online manual. Mine was made in the 1990 to 1995 period. Maschio supplied me with that.

I hope I answered all your questions
