Thats the first thing I did was oil that chain when it came over here. I am not sure why it was like that. The only thing I can think of is that the bearing was leaking and I didnt catch it. I am going to make sure there are no leaks or anything like that. It was kind of a pain in the butt to get apart. I am not wanting to repeat this episode.
You shouldn't have to oil the chain, the chain case is supposed to be filled to a certain level with gear oil, that's why I asked about the rust, looks as if the chain case was without oil and could have caused the bearing to wear and come apart. Can you post another picture when you get it back together?
