Measuring a plow's size?

I know this thread is old, but I need a relevant solution for the same problem.
Picture, brand, and model number, if it has a tag on it of plow is always a big help.

Grab a ruler, the kind with centimeters on it, and measure the width of the plow blade. Just go from one end to the other, and jot down the measurement. You can also measure the length of the plow, by using your cm ruler starting from the tip of the blade and going all the way to the back. These measurements will give you a good idea of how big the plow is.

Are there not often (possibly) numbers stamped on the back of the moldboard that may give a hint via Google as to manufacturer and part number? Also, if you remove the share, there may be similar info stamped there on reverse side.

The measurement is the width of the furrow you are turning. Simple on a 2 bottom plow, just measure the frame. Single bottom is a little more difficult. Measurement 12,14,16,18 has nothing to do with the length of anything. Many old Allis plows have extra holes in the frame so you can adjust the width of the furrow and still use the same bottoms.
