Can somebody explain where to measure on a turning plow to determine its size?

Width of furrow is how these are sized.

Measure at right angle from land slide to end of share. Most common sizes are 14, 16, 18 inch for ag use. There are 10 & 12 inch for SCUTs and larger lawn tractors

I am almost ashamed to admit this but my plow now only measure is 5.75 inches . It seemed to be a couple inches wider before I plowed my new garden spot that's 2.5 acres. The ground is sandy loam and it ate the cutting edge down at an amazing pace. toward the end I was having to re adjust the plow to keep it in the ground

You should post a photo because that doesn't sound right.

I think I have seen moldboards and shares like that before. I think it's for plowing places where you want to leave a lot of vegetative "trash" on the surface for erosion control such as gravel or sandy soils, especially on slopes. I don't have time to do it right now but a search of moldboard styles should turn something up. I believe I saw them for sale in a Shoup Ag parts catalog so a search of their site might be helpful. That's what it looks like to me. At least it's a start.

Looks like one intended for a 2-wheel tractor.

Measure from center to center on the main beams behind the A-frame. You will get 12-14 or 16 on most plows under 4 bottom in size. Measuring the shares will not be accurate as there are many length variations from different mfgrs. Ken Sweet

I know this thread is old, but I need a relevant solution for the same problem.
