Almost without exception the advice I have received on TBN as been solid and helpful. I wonder if threads like this make people less likely to give advise (opinions).

I have complained about the thread and asked for it to be pulled...It is a stupid thread and I have never said that about any other thread...ever !

Could you post pics of exactly how someone is twisting your arm and making you read this thread?:p

As for "ignore lists" I wish there was a way to determine how many one was on- don't need to know whose.
I sometimes am puzzled by other responses in threads I'm in....someone will come along and post the exact same thing me or someone else already posted- either we're on their list or they don't read well- there is no indication of agreement or acknowledgement of the prior identical answer....
I don't have anyone on "ignore"..but may not put much faith in some member's posts, but like others I don't see any intentional wrong info.

In general, I agree with most of the responses in this thread. This is the internet, and while most TBN'ers have good intentions and only want to help, you still have to be the judge for yourself.

Determining wether advise is good or bad is NOT black and white. It can vary by region or country, by machine, by application, or can just plain be ones opinion. What one person may consider good advise, another may think it is bad. We are each entitled to our own opinion.

Asking advise on somthing that can be potentionally life threatning is all well and fine, just as long as you remember that this is a free forum and if you have no Idea who is giving the advise. And if you decided to take that advise without knowing for yourself or consulting a the proper professional, and something bad happens..................Well I think thats called Natural Selection.:D

Let the record show that any advice I give or work I do is covered by my " Iron Clad , Air Tight ,Tail light Guarantee".

Is anyone else concerned?
No.

Some members think they are knowledgeable on all subjects and frequently give bad or dangerous advice.
I've never seen this happen. However, if you have, did you correct this 'bad or dangerous' advice in the thread or report it to a Moderator?

Appears member of the month posts is the holy grail.
Why would you say this? I don't see how posting wrong or dangerous information would qualify someone for Member of the Month.

I would propose, if you don't have knowledge on a subject, sit back and learn something. No advice is better than bad advice.
Again, this assumes people are deliberately giving bad advice which is highly unlikely. TBN is all about people helping people which includes using your experience to help, and at times, politely correct others. Not correcting bad advice is irresponsible.

Don't intend to tick anyone off personally.
By starting this thread, then never posting in it again, what I call a 'drive by' posting, you might have. I also question the real motives of a 'drive by' poster.

I just find when someone is in need of help, due to lack of experience as I have been on occasion and posted needing help, bad advice could get people in trouble.
Then it's up to the people with more experience to correct the bad advice or report it.

MikePA and brin,
Man-o-man. This topic seemed to get you 2 fired up. Whew! I had better duck I guess.
brin wants to take away my rights to post what I think is a subject of concern.

If you want expert advice...Call your dealer and pay for Expert advice...this thread is stupid in my opinion and a Moderator ought to take it out...Just ridiculours..Talk about kicking a gift horse in the mouth....

Mike takes exception with everything I wrote. Is it a drive-by post now Mike?
I did not post to sit here all day and chat. I posted 'cause I was concerned that some advice could be better thought out. That is it.
Agree or not, your replies should have had more consideration prior to posting.

Members come here looking for help. When they ask a question, I would think they did not know the correct answer. Like a few have said, It's free advice. For what it is worth.

MikePA and brin,

brin wants to take away my rights to free speech..

Another member confused by the "free speech" issue. This is a privately held website. There is no free speech here except as determined by the owner and administrated by the moderators. Everyone has three choices:

1. Moderate yourself.
2. Be moderated by others put in the position to do so.
3. Leave.

I guess I am just repeating my original post here.

And it makes no more sense now than it did on page one. Of all the "bad" information I see here, I believe very little is posted with malice, just a lack of understanding. It is unproductive to ask that someone desist fom doing something that isn't done consciously to begin with.

RickB, Am I singled out here? Whom else did you dress down?
Trying to figure out why? Are you a moderator?
You are right about the "free speech". I corrected it. Sorry I erred.
