I am sorry but in my opinion that 1 1/4" is not nearly strong enough to be considered a ROPS. It bends pretty easily. Is it better than nothing? Yes.

If you want to make the FOPS part of it stronger, you could sandwich a piece of sheet metal between two pieces of plywood.

Yes it's a little on the light side. On a tight budget right now. And I would rather it bend then snap reason I went with Galvanized steel.

But I think It will offer enough protection to get me through the winter. Sheet metal sounds like a great idea. I may also look at other ways to reinforce it until then. I Don't plan on spending to much more on it right now. Probably just go ahead and get the factory Rop's between now and spring... Can't beat solid steel plate over your head .. Thanks for the input

I would think the cast iron 90’s or flanges will be the weakest points.

What I said a few pages up .. Agreed .. I guess I should have mentioned this at the beginning. In my mind this was more for keeping tree branches from falling and hitting me in the head while out in the woods.

Also for snow and rain. My property does not have any steep hills so I have no real worry of tumbling over, chances would be hardly none. If it did happen it would be a simple fall sideways not tumbling down a steep hill.

If my property had steep hills I wouldn't have wasted my time with this quick setup. Like Ken said better than nothing. Will do for now..

Sorry, I was concerned about tipping over on a hill. Here, we do not know what flat ground is. It is pretty unusual to tip a PT sideways on flat ground but not impossible.

NP.. Ken that was pretty much the reaction I was expecting from everyone.

The pipe looks and is much thicker very study when you look at it up close. Like you said it's rare to fall over and if I ever do I'm confident after working with it that it will take a good hit.

Woodlandfarms , I bought a new set of stock replacement lights for the bottom, I'll be putting them on after I do some sanding and painting.

Thought I would try an inexpensive set of 27-Watt Round LED Off Road flood lights for the top by Shanren and see if they work. Hopefully I won't have a problem with the little Kohler not having an alternator. I know led's have been somewhat improved over the years.

I read where several people have used them with Zero turn's and regular garden tractors and had good results. If they work and don't burn out. I may get a better led rectangular set for the top..

Send back the original lights you got. LED are so much better. This said, there was a period of time where people had issues with running LED lights on Kohler / Subaru engines because the alternator is a bit different and is hard on the electronics.

If the LED's work, send back the Incandescents. They draw a bunch of power for no great result.
