That's one of those quotes that I knew long before I ever saw the movie. I was disappointed to learn that the scene was just a loon talking to himself in the mirror.

As Caligula in BBC's "I, Claudius". btw, I heard he was pretty good in 'Elephant Man' but didn't see it, wish he hadn't died so early in 'Alien', discovered him in 'Midnight Express.

He was an exceptional actor; he was great as the Elephant Man, but of course all we had was a name with no face to it. I first noticed him in "The Proposition", an Australian Western, that I though was excellent, although it didn't get a lot of publicity here. I once mentioned my admiration for him to a Thespian friend of mine; he told me he was a classically trained English actor, who learned his trade on the stage.
