metal piece came out of oil pan when changing oil

luckilly that governor is real close to the oil sump.. likely it all fell out and went safely to the bottom.. like the titanic..

I tend to agree, everything may be ok unless a piece somehow managed to find it's way into the aluminum oil pump gear, which could be easily damaged.

Here are some pictures of some progress ,there were 2 balls left in the assembly and the remaining 8 were at the bottom . Things look good as far as no major damage to casings and gears. A little play in the oil pump gear between teeth on crank teeth.

everything came apart pretty good ,now I should clean everything up.Thanks .

I did notice a newer gasket sealer was used . This has been apart befor . I'll have to check out a gasket kit ,governor assembly ,case seal

prev owner may have 'serviced' it and not put it back together correctly.. no keeper or something..e tc..

I just love taking something apart.. especially something delicate or expensive/difficult, and seeing rtv extruded out the sides of the case cover..
