What is the big U beam coming up from the blade for?

Is that an aftermarket canopy for your tractor? It looks to be a much newer shape than the ones I have seen on tractors like that.

the canopy was taken of the tractor for sale and the rops fitted (from june this year all tractors sold must have a rops) anyway i refitted it back on top.the beam is a tree spear,its not quite right yet as the blade hits before the tree goes over (the higher you push a tree the easier it goes over),although i did push some 6-8" regrowth over (box/gum).ironbark is a bit tougher.i'am fairly happy with it but may change the angle of the cutting edge ,slightly sharper..
