Bolt down the base plates to play it safe and I think your covered then. That is your most critical area where you were underpowered.
Testing the hooks by lifting or pulling something in a controlled environment like you did is a lot better than whacking them with a big hammer. Hooks aren't meant to be beat on and you could cause stress cracks or other unseen fatigue that might cause them to fail.
