That excavator rake looks like a good bet for debris and demolition. I couldn't find one for my B21 so made something similar. Together with a hydraulic thumb, it works much better than a standard bucket for clean up chores. I would not hesitate to buy the one in your link.

Hey that's a nice one! You should start selling those. :)

I'm going to have a concrete pad poured and a cover made for storing the U55. What is the usual position of the boom/stick when an excavator is parked? How big should the pad be and how high does the cover have to be?

Most machine live their lives outside. I place my cylinders so the minimum amount of chrome is exposed.

If uncovered - the less the chrome shows the better. I park in my shed so I pull everything in to save room and having the chrome showing doesn't matter if out of the elements.

Yeah, it makes a lot of sense about protecting the chrome. I want to keep it under a roof so I guess that won't be as critical and won't have have the boom and stick extended way out to cover the chrome. A concrete pad would have to be really long with the arm extended all the way out. I'm thinking a 10" x 20'-24' pad and cover should be OK?

That should be more than enough. I am on 8' x 20' and have room to spare.

99% of all excavators or any construction machinery sit outside their entire life . I have never seen any damage to the rods .

How tall is your shed?

That's good to hear. But what about damaged wiring from mice? Anyone know of any low barrier to put around machinery to keep mice out?
