No time at all..or just today? Unless it sold I would keep trying if your seriously interested. If it's something you want these are the type things you have to be ready to move on, leave work early or do over lunch, or after work etc. You have to make it work when a deal arises.

He's 2+ hours away so it's a half a day to go and come minimum. If this was jan\feb and I had all my $ together waiting I'd probably work towards making it happen harder.

Makes sense. Me personally, if it's something I want I don't think twice about taking off for two hours away. I understand about not having money in hand at this time, that's the main thing with these deals .

Older Yanmars in good condition do come up for sale now and again. Around here they tend to be USA models rather than the imported gray market tractors.
Yanmars were uniquely well-built, using the best materials and technology throughout. They were designed to be easily maintained, and the manual and parts access is good.
That's why in decent shape, they normally sell for full asking price. ..... particularly if 4wd and paired with the factory loader or one of the recognized loader copies. Power steering and power shifting are two options that make them even more attractive.

You can still find 1980's models with less than 1000 hours that will most likely give you good service for another 20+ years even now.

Dunno about YM226. Does yours have power steering?

For YM186, apparently real rare. I think it was an expensive dealer-installed option, from a third party, sold through Yanmar. I love it.

Yes, my YM 226 has power steering, Wish it was 4wd. It is a breeze to mow with. Yanmar Tractors 001.JPG

My kids are still eyeball deep in soccer, and me coaching, so I'm having to work around that schedule. That's another reason jab\feb will be a lot easier. Lot fewer prior obligations.

I've kinda learned over the years too that another deal usually pops up if you're patient. Since it's a want I can be patient. Especially since Fredricks has a warehouse full across the highway.

I read that part too and was like..wait, where am I, what forum is this? Haha

I am viewing this thread in Tapatalk app , and I use at least two other forums from the app sometimes so I too was like, wait what forum am I on. I had to pull up and look at the posters names to be sure I was even in TBN!

I don't know about your mind, but mine doesn't seem so sharp this morning. My bad.... I thought I was responding on the General Tractor Topics forum here on TBN.
BTW, there is a YM336D, a bare tractor used for light work... incredibly low hours. In the Denver Craig's List. Price is good too.....
That's one the very best models.
the YM276 & 336
have a flow diverter and internal power steering. Nicer than the optional add-on power steering for the smaller YMs which had the mechanical valve switch operated by an connection to the steering rod. That type was basically manual steering plus a (often leaky) outboard hydraulic cylinder. It still beat the heck out of no PS at all.
Someone ought to buy that YM336D.

one more question I've been thinking about. What's the effort required to steer one of the non-PS models? Since the wife might use it, that's an important consideration. If it's too hard to steer she might not use it.
