Greetings! I picked up this Mohawk B-5 "Brave" rotary cutter at a farm near my home. I've already changed out the gearbox fluid and checked underneath to find the stump jumper and blades in surprisingly good condition.

I don't think the upper link area is set up as it would have come from the factory, and would like to return it to something that works well and is 'safe.' I don't have a manual, but it's clear that the top piece of steel (3/8" thick and apparently random length) is a piece of creative engineering. Seems to work okay, but since I haven't pushed it hard yet, I'm not sure what to be worried about. If anything.

Do any of you see any glaring issues that I should address before pressing the old girl into service?

Make sure the PTO shaft slides in and out freely. If it don't take it apart and grease it.

I would look at changing some of those bolts to grade 8 at minimum if they aren't.
