I placed standard chains on my Ag tires as these were the only available option at the time - no double rings available. Thoughts about running 5/16" tractor supply chains at a 90 degree angle with chain repair links? 3/8" chain is cheaper - 30 proof chain or better ? I live in NH and want these for ice traction.

Welcome Jim
You and I have the same tires. It appears we have the same chain as well (4 link ladder) I run these with no tensioners and grip on ice w/o a problem. I also have no hills to contend with. Stick with the 3/8 chain for any alterations. As I do not know the criticalness of your need, I cannot really justify a recommendation. If it were "critical" I would advise getting some "v-bar" cross links to apply to the present chains or a v-bar set to go on the front 7x16 ags.
If you are on flat terrain, there is nothing you need to do except make sure you are running loose and yes, the chains stay on without tensioners. You can see where the chains bite into the ice on my property very clearly. Where I can slip and fall with just my feet because of ice, the tractor has no problem with grip with the simplest of tire chains in the same area.
About double ring chains: I had opportunities for a spell, to drive an old Massey with these on. Great in mud in the fall but was scary on ice in winter. Not forward traction but sideways slide. Some guys have success with these but I found them "treacherous" on that particular tractor with ice.
