Maybe I have a problem that is more serious than I thought....

Am I the only one who thinks that Farmwithjunk's plow pictures are about as sexy as it gets??!! I do love old plows.

Too bad I didn't find FarmWithJunk's post when I was looking for a plow. I now have 2 old Fergusons, purchased at auctions. My 1 bottom was at the last auction of the 2009 season up in this neck of the woods and I needed to plow. It was all worn out but I managed to get my small plot plowed. In 2010 I found a pretty decent 2 bottom and it has done the job for me, but if I damage a major part like a share I am screwed. I can't find any. Now I have proper models in mind. And a later post - I had found a 3 x 14 International plow that was in excellent condition at an auction. I looked it over and figured I could easily drop off 1 bottom, but I waffled when it came time to bid. Major mistake because I would have had one good plow for less money than I have in my 2 junkers. I've been looking over my cousin's boneyard trying to come up with something but I can't figure out how to convert a 6 bottom semi-mounted to a 2 or 3 bottom fully mounted.

I wonder if my plow picture is still at the bottom page?

Yep! Still there. Just activating the old spit glands.
This is a Ford 101. :D twice. in other words, a 102. Now that I have finally found a source for parts for the left hand side, I'm gonna quit looking at new ($9000) plows.

Nice work. I want to know how you keep the plow shares looking so clean with no rust? How do you keep them from rusting?

When stored indoors most anything will work. WD-40 etc. but when stored outdoors a coat of aluminum paint applied with a disposable brush is about 5 times faster than grease and not nearly as messy.

How did that grease glob get on my ear?

I would not use WD40, it will rust up twice as fast. Grease works great, let the dirt wash it off. :)

That's nothing but BS. If you could see my Winchester pump I bought new in 1959 and has had nothing but WD-40 on it you would see it quite differently.

It is not BS. WD40 contains 40% water. It is not a rust inhibitor,, it will only rust more. That is a fact, NOT fiction!!
