The latest update. I spoke with the sales person yesterday. After we talked about a discount due to the beam his stance changed. Big suprise. We went from "that beam must have been hit by the tractor to be that far out " to the newest story of "the wood just shrank". I got a real good laugh out one. It sort of shoots a big hole in the theory of paying extra for laminated beams. He was actually trying to tell me the whole laminated 3 board beam shrunk 1/2" in 1 week after they installed it. Of course it's still square at the top so now we are talking cash its of course no real big deal. YEEEEEAH. To that I promptly replied that if we have 6 x 4 laminated beams shrinking a 1/2" in a week it's time to bring in a structural and civil engineer. Lots of sputtering after that. I think he got the point that I wasn't buying it. So we agreed to get Morton corporate in on this situation and bring in a guy who is supposed to be the head inspector for Morton in Mi. We still have a real disagreement on the roof line as well. So right now the bottom line is we are waiting to see. One thing I was told about the roof is that each corner is supposed to take a slight rise where the roofing meets the soffet. The one end is much higher . I have not measured but it looks like 1/2 to 1" . A little tuff to tell because its 12' up from ground level. Its enough to be very noticeable. This gives the soffet /roof line the look of sagging in the middle. The actual peak or top roof line appears higher in the middle. I was told that each end truss is slightly higher because they are "fixed" for support and the others flex. There is also a main bearing wall in the middle that seperates the insulated room from the garage so that gives the middle of the roof a slight rise as it's a fixed truss as well. Maybe some one here with building experience can tell me if that makes any sense. All I know is with the top line going slightly up and the bottom middle going down it doesn't look quite right. The other thing we debated is that now they are trying to say they never told me the building was done. Which is simply not true. I was told the building was done except for the concrete, doors and 1 trim piece. So for now it appears we have begun to dance. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Thanx inspector 507 for putting up those photos. I have had a few guys look at the larger photos and a few neighbors look at the roof and they all seem to feel its slightly off as well. The concrete is on hold and registered letters will go to Morton corp and the local store today.

If a Morton is out of square I'd call Morton. They offer the best warranty in the business and if they built it out of square they should be responsible for their error.

I nearly had a Morton put up last year, and my how things have changed. I still want one, but need a much bigger door for my much bigger camper.

Doc, I know you are documenting all the stupid things the sales man is telling you on this website for all of use to read, but I also hope you are documenting it to present to the Morton representative. When I run into issues I take such good notes that my lawyers are impressed. I hope you are doing the same. Each phone call or each meeting is documented with notes on a fresh sheet of paper, each sheet has a time the call/meeting started, who I talked to, how many times I got transferred, how long I was on hold, and what time the call/meeting terminated. I love to write down quotations that really sound bizarre because those are the ones the come back to haunt people later. One time I got deposed and the lawyer who called me in for the deposition got lost and was late, I sent her a bill for my time and then turned her over to a collection agency when she didn't pay (I am a jackass sometimes, but turning a lawyer over to a collection agency was pretty darn funny). Keeping good notes of times, events, and silly statements pays off in the long run. You obviously have your notes on TBN, but if you don't have good notes anywhere else, I would hope you would write down the TBN notes and present a copy of them, in a logical time format, to the Morton represntative.
