Probably a good bet, but only Kubota of those 4 lives or dies on compact tractors.
Does MF and NH really have that much invested in their compact tractors? I don't think they own a factory that makes them. I don't think JD does either but they seem to be trying to position themselves as almost a lifestyle company and have the deep pockets to sell CUTs even if they are losing money at it, just to have a JD tractor of every size imaginable...

I don't think you'll see tractors of the modern era last that long. I had a '41 Farmall-A for 10 years. Built like a tank, and simple no electronics or other gizmo's to fail except the magneto.

There are too many things to fail in 70 years on todays tractors. Same for cars. 60 or 70 years from now, I do not think there will be many "classic" 2011 Camaro's of Challengers or Mustangs.

It would be great if I could keep this Kubota running for 50 years or more, like the Ford 8N/9N, Massey 135, Farmall Cub, etc.

Kubota's competition will not come from the big Ag tractor guys, it will come from other Japanese manufactures and S. Korea where small tractors are big. Iseki, Yanmar, Mitsubishi, Kubota, LS, and Kioti. While Kubota has a 30 head start in this country that is changing right now! Many young people are going rural and they do not share a 30 year history of tractors and are not locked into a color. While you may think Kubota is the bees knees the guy next door may not be so committed. With modern coating and lubricates I think modern tractors will last longer than the tractors of old and they will run more reliably over that time too.

I guess it depends on the area. The last three CUTS bought in my area were Kubotas. I have seen one Kioti in the last couple of years and not one Mahindra or LS. John Deere is considered King here and EVERYTHING else is "off brand" regardless of the brand. I have, however, had some John Deere owners look at our Kubotas and they were impressed; not enough probably to buy one, but they did like them.

I am sure in time when/if other brands get better dealer networks they will start showing up as dealer instability/reputation has really hindered their expansion here. You can have a great product, but if you don't have good dealer network, you simply won't sell very well.

You see as the old guys that are committed to Kubota and have grown up on them are not going to be the next generation to buy tractors and work those small rural properties and self sufficient properties and small farms. They are going to retire. These new young people are not committed to brand, and are much more open to S. Korean products, they own all kinds of S. Korean and Japanese products and will be much more open to giving them a try and will compare them on merit performance and quality rather then some commitment to color.

I am NOT commited to any one brand. I just happened to get the best deal this time on kubota. Who knows what my next one will be. I will shop around again and weight ALL viable options.

I understood your point perfectally, but you must NOT have understood my joke.

It dont matter HOW big or successful the "other" brands get, or what brand the "next" generation buys, kubota has a 30 yr head start as you say, and that will NEVER change.

200 yrs from now, when the "others" have been around for that 200 yrs, kubota will have been around for 230 yrs. STILL a 30 yr head start.:D

It was meant as a joke. Do you get it now???

I am certainly not brand loyal as we have Case, Ford, Massey Ferguson, John Deer as well as Kubota. If I was brand loyal, I would not have bought a my first Kubota in 2003. I admit I was somewhat leery of doing so as I was not familiar with them. My brother is a mechanic who started out working on tractors and recommended them. He prefers the old iron and probably will never own a Kubota.

All of the new Kubota owners I know are in their mid to late thirties; for the most part the old guys stick with John Deere or Case, well except me.
