Ive moved a couple of sheds Egyptian style.

use a a dozzen 3 or 4" pipes logs whatever. You can even stear the building diffrent directions by angleing the "incomming" pipes.

My wife and I moved a home made cattle squeeze chute and headgate onto our flatbed trailer by using some prybars to get the chute up onto some blocks, then used rollers to get it moving, then used the Gator to pull it up onto the trailer by using the rollers to get up the ramps...it actually wasn't to bad once you get the hang of letting the rollers do the work for you.

We used new and old fence posts ( 6 inch or so ) we had laying around the place.

Sure it can be done if it's not to; fragil or heavy. After you are sure it's braced well and you have good sled runners, wet the ground the runners sit. Not where the tractor tires are. Static friction is considerably more than dynamic friction. So once you get it moving go as far as you can in one pull.

Owner to the North of me has a simple pole shed that sits across my line by 10-15 ft. He has claimed there is nothing he can do short of tearing down. I have offered to help him move it!!
What's that have to do with it???

This is something I have done a lot with my Dad as a kid. Big tip Rollers, rollers Rollers. If you can lift the building with a floor jack and slide some 2X10s or what ever under the length and set them down on rollers. The bigger the roller the better. Telephone polls make the best rollers. 5 work real well cut about 8 to 10 feet long so you can handle them. Just pick up the ones that roll out the back and move them to the front

YOU'RE ON A ROLL WITH THIS METHOD.

Since he is moving it 100', stoping and moving the rollers doesn't seem practical here. tele poles are not easy to move. If it would not slide on the runners, I would look to rollers. Also, in a field of grass, some of the rollers might not want to roll. I can imagine it sliding across the top of the rollers.

How bout wheels in place of rollers?

another option is use croque balls on 2x8 on top and bottom with 1x3's on each side of the 2x8 for guides to keep them in line it was only a little shead 8x8 or so but only took one person pushing and 2 moving balls and planks

Somes folks don't think you can move a shed....In some states, once a building is in place, you are often stuck with it.

My dad has a 12' X 24' wood / steel shed that we have moved countless times. I think he bought it in the early 80's, possibly late 70's. I am certain it has been at least at 4 houses and I think more, and I know it has been at several locations at his current house. (they just got done moving it and patching it up again.)

Anyway,,,, A long long time ago when he first had to move it he bought 4" schedule 40 PVC pipe lengths to use as rollers. I think he has about 8. We empty the building to make it lighter, jack one end until we can get some rollers under it, then start rolling it forward. It will sometimes roll the rollers, and a lot of times it will slide over top the rollers, but it is suprisingly easy to move.

We have used trucks, tractors, and lots of pry bars along the way to make it happen, but it was almost always whatever we had at hand. Last time I moved it with him we did it by hand with levers. I bet we moved more then 100' as well as around a tree, and around a corner behind another building then slid it sideways 10' to put it against the other building.

I think you will find it amazing how easy it moves when on PVC. Just need a couple folks, (3 would be my number) (although I think my 70 year old Dad did it the last time by himself with the tractor) a healthy dose of patience to not rush and hurt something, and an extra 2 or three rollers to lay in your path.

Have to agree with timber and the others in favor with the rolling method. I have moved many sheds, pole barns, work shops, play houses you name it. The round 5 or 6 " fence posts work great. As was said earlier with a little practice you can turn building completly around by angling the post and pushing from 1 corner. I have yet to drag one on "skids" that didnt tear up the grass, or rip siding off.
