"..Why not order?...'

Because after buying about (6) new "off the lot," and special ordering (1), I am convinced I get better deals buying
what is in stock.

Whenever there are incentives, those incentives are always limited to "dealer stock."

Lately, I haven noticed the incentives limited to "vehicles in dealer stock the longest."

Maybe things have changed. When I ordered mine, all the rebates applied to my order and any new additional rebates that came out before delivery I would get as well. Dealer specific offers I could see not working on an order. I bought mine for 750 under invoice and got 6500 in rebates off that price. That was a while back so they may have changed their rebate plans.

Incentive programs change month-to-month, and certainly year-to-year.
It all depends upon what is selling and what is not.

Right now, trucks are selling and there is little in the way of dealer-facing nor customer-facing incentives on trucks, other than some "special financing" offers. Lower fuel prices, along with very loose lending/leasing standards, are responsible for the demand, in my opinion.

Small cars, however, are not selling that well, and there are some deals on cars at the moment.

In 2008, when gasoline prices were higher than today, the situation was reversed. Small cars, especially hybrids, were moving fast while dealers could hardly give away trucks/SUV's.

It is just a bad time to be buying a new truck. If one could wait a year or so, I believe the market will change. Due to a situation that I won't bore the readers with, I had to switch trucks before summer 2016, so I could not wait.

This was how it was also for us when we ordered our 2012. Took about 7 weeks to get it. Think we were quoted 10 weeks but they always come in early in my experience.

^^^Good to know... one Dealer would not commit and the other said 10 weeks.

When I ordered my BMW it was there on the date promised ready for 30 days driving through Europe...

When Mom ordered her Corolla the factory told us March 19th and we spent the day watching it being made... turns out NUMMI had to hold it back because production was about a day ahead and that would have meant March 18th... gotta love those guys at NUMMI... they pulled her production number aside so we could be there to witness it being made.

Someone posted F150 are selling well... so this is probably the reason deals are difficult...

Funny thing is the one my brother had negotiated on and told his sales person he would be in to pick it up Monday morning only to show up and see the truck and no one could find the keys.... he then was told it had been sold Sunday night.

This was almost two weeks ago and he saw it still on the lot... sales person said it did not sell and he can still buy it... the hook is they will not honor the price he was quoted in writing/e-mail... said the King Ranch as equipped is too hard to get so the Dealer wants more for it...

Gotta love it when you can stay in business by not selling... the Dealership is about a mile from work so it would have been real convenient... they did talk to him about ordering and he was luke warm because what's to stop them from selling it out from under him... had this happen to a friend of mine about 20 years with a Corvette...

Thanks Kyle...

I was wondering if the King Ranch is a good seller in Texas or if Texans even like it?

My brother has decided this is the model he wants... he works hard and away on business often so why not go for it and the wife has signed off on a new truck saying get what you want because you are going to be driving it for a looooooong time.

I think I would be more a Lariat or XLT buyer if I was in the market... that said... unless my 85 and 91 happen to get totaled... I will probably be still driving them 10 years from now... they live outside and so far rust has not been an issue... underside is a clean as can be... my 96 F150 is even cleaner...

I really feel for you guys living in areas where they salt the roads...

As to the damaged 2003 F150 it looks like it is not going to happen... the sheet metal is really that banged up and I have never driven a vehicle with shocks so bad... apparently it had a load that broke both rear shocks and they are just a hanging???

As a sidebar... the owner of the 2003 recently took delivery on a new, nicely equipped 2015 F150... very nice truck. It's been less than 2 weeks and the passenger side has already been hit... the only thing that saved the brand new truck is the nerf bar...

The bar has deep gouges and is tweeked... I am 100% certain the new truck would be mangled mess just like the 2003 had it not been for the nerf bar!

Tough luck to have your brand new pickup hit, do you have any photos of it?

When I say hit... I mean the new owner already sideswiped the right side just like he did with his last one.

The only thing that save the truck from severe damage is the Nerf Bar that is like a step that extends out beneath the cab doors.

I've seen if before with people with vision problems... mostly older.

They can have poor depth perception... my step grandfather damaged the right side of his car and the garage on several occasions misjudging the distance... as did several of my elderly renters... always seems to be the right side.
