an update to my prior question...prices for CUT's seem to be ALL over the place in my area. I HAVE NO REFERENCE POINT at this moment. I see no real bargains out there either considering our economy isn't great. this is playing out to be more frustrating than truck shopping!

In tractors alot of times there is just "List" and "What the dealer will sell it for"
Not really an "MSRP"
List is unrealistically high.
On cars and trucks there are destination charges right on the "Sticker" not so on tractors.
So dealers have to work all of this into the price, as well as assembly etc.
Also every brand has different discounts and different ways they discount for the dealer.
Some brands have a straight accrossed the board discounts, some have declining discounts and I'm sure there are others too.
It's tough to say overall all brands should sell at "xx%" discount.
I know it's a pain but unfortunately thats how the tractor companies do it.

thanks for the info. so maybe purchasing from a volume dealer may get ya a better price? even if it means traveling for the bargain. i would much prefer to make a local deal. service and plain ol' good business practices should be the norm, at least in my book. call me ol' fashioned.

Maybe, maybe not.
You might do better with a smaller dealer who is trying SO HARD to get to the next volume level - and is willing to sacrifice margin for volume in the short term.
Another way is to try and close near the last day of the month, or last day of the quarter. Making the numbers can REALLY matter around the 30th.

We all go through this phase. Just pretend you're looking for something used instead of new. Find what you like and then compare prices. Most here think the "dealer experience" is a big part of buying a tractor, myself included. You will probably keep the thing for a long time, so it's good to have a working relationship with the guys you will see for service parts and maybe an occasional shop visit.
There is no reason you can't openly compare the prices they give you. You can take your price on a Mahindra to the NH dealer and ask him what he has that compares but is a better deal, etc. Then ask why he thinks you should buy his machine instead of the others you've looked at. Be sure to give a time frame for your decision so they know you are serious instead of just looking.

Go to deere.com and use the "Build Your Own" feature to get JD MSRP pricing. Others may have this feature now, but when I was looking, Deere was the only one.

How does $18,000 sound for a Kioti DK30 with FEL? That is the best my dealer said he can do.

If new members would fill out the profile and let others know what area they are in it would be helpful. You might find what dealers to deal with or even ones to stay away from. Also tractor prices vary from region to region. JC

Yup. There are two versions of these floating around now. 17k would be for a standard one. There is now an "Extra Power" version which has a larger, emmissionized engine thats a tad more expensive.
