I also ran gear tractors for decades and didnt think i would want an hst , until i got one . i still have 3 gear tractors but hst is by far my favorite

I just took delivery of my HST mx 5400 cab tractor Friday. I have had Hydrostatic for 15 years and won't go back to gear. I do a lot of loader work and stuff around my barns. the gear drive clutch tractors just don't give you that really smooth gentle approach in my experience from growing up on clutch tractors. but it definitely depends on your use. if your working in hay fields all day then a gear drive is for you.

I'm a big fan of my geared MX5400. Occasionally I wonder if I should have stepped up to a M5660SUHD but I'm still cool with the MX. If you pulling or mowing I would go with a geared tractor. I don't see much of a disadvantage when it comes to loader work but I've been rocking a gear tractor for years. Good luck with your decision and I hope they have your choice in stock.
