I have done a lot of lurking on this section of TBN since the summer. I have wanted my own welder and finally decided to buy a new Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC. The welder and my new auto dark helmet showed up Fri 12/30. First thing Sat morning I was laying practice beads on scrap. On Sunday I decided to start construction of a welding cart and this past weekend built the frame for a welding table. All the material was scrap I got for free. I found the top for the table laying in the weeds. It is 22"x40". A little pitted on one side but not bad. Thanks for all the info given here by so many!! I have learned a ton the past few months. Here are some pics.

Very nice projects! You are definitely making good use of your investment in a welder.

There ya go!

Welding gives you convenience, customisation, and personal control of how well work is done. Saving large piles of money is also quite nice.

Now you have power you didn't before.

Super Merc

Great projects and looks like you have the ability needed.

Someday I may retire again:( be able to work on my projects instead of honey-do's.

RC, I finished my welding table next. Then I built a hitch bracket that bolts to my ballast box (picked up that idea from another TBN member). I built a trailer to pull with my tractor. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/john-deere-owning-operating/239924-trailer-build-my-2520-a.html. I just picked up an old JD 80 dump cart for $20 that needs lots of work. I will probably save that for the coming winter.

Nice cart. I have a lincoln Tombstone AC 180 Amp welder. And even though it has wheels. I plan on making myself a cart for it. That way it'll be easier to move and I can hang my welding cables on it.

It get's cumbersome. Trying to tote it while keeping the cables up off the ground trying to keep them from getting run over by the welder itself.
