A safe solution is too cheap to warrant repetitively risking damage to anything, ESPECIALLY YOU!
I would avoid putting a drum on a dolly and trying to get it down a ramp
Don't do the hand truck/dolly thing as that could get you hurt.
Pat
I decided to tee in another line to the inlet side of my pump and drum set up and use the pump to pump the fuel out of another 30 gallon drum setting in the back of my pick up right into my 30 gallon storage drum.
Then all I have to do is lift the light empty drum up and set it down on the ground.
No Hand truck or forks need with this method.

That works for my tractor, but for the dozer I need to take the fuel to it. My wife won't appreciate the tracks on the lawn. I figured I'd haul a barrel of fuel with the loader on the tractor, but I'd rather not hand pump 30-50 gal.

I've got all the parts for my set up except the hoses but I'm waiting on the nozzle and filter from Northern tool.

In that case couldn't you use the tractor or dozer bat.?
In case I run out of fuel in the tractor I can always pump a gallon from the drum and then start the tractor and drive it to the drum to finish filling.

Won't your loader lift the drum high enough to let you gravity the fuel into the dozer?

Got the 2 ball valves, water blocking fuel filter and all the pipe fittings installed on the pump yesterday.
Today I installed the suction pipe in the drum and plumed the vent.
My setup is all done now except for connecting up the hoses and hooking up the electric train transformer.

Does the manual for the pump list its power draw? The NT web site says it's 120W, which would be 10A @ 12V. That will just barely work off a lighter socket, which would be very convenient for me since it's not easy to get at the battery on all my toys.

Have any of you tried running it off a lighter socket? Mine all seem to be fused at 10A.

Thanks
Should work pump is 10 A .

LBrown, I'm trying to visualize how your setup will work once completed. Could you post a pic to help me out?
