Thanks Guys, Jack had a great life and he was an independant dog. He is the dog in my avatar. My children are the ones who had to have him. We researched JRTs and how to pick a good one. we picked him out when he was 5 days old and went and picked him up when he was 6 weeks old. He was his own dog. He was the easiest dog I have ever trained and he knew about 15 or 20 tricks by comand. Once he learned a trick he never forgot. Whatever I was doing outside he was fully engaged. If I was on the tractor he was there and stayed out of the way. I am sure going to miss that rascal.

Sorry to hear this. I to have a JR that is 9 years old and has to be the smartest dog I have ever had. He is part of the family and alwasy by our side. There will not be a dry eye in the house when his day comes.

I never get used to the loss of a furry friend but I always try to take in another. Until recently we had 5 dogs, 4 outside and 1 inside. Last year we had to put down our Australian Shepard that was 17 years old. The JRT was originally a house dog but he insisted on living outside, it was just to cramped for his style living inside. He had a heated dog house that he dealy loved. He lived the best life a JRT could have he could hunt and roam and be with us lots of freedom and lots of stuff to get into. His favorite thing was to try to dig something out of the ground and if he thought that is what I was doing he was in it with all of his heart ripping roots out and all. His favorite treat was almonds (supposedly not good for dogs) he would do anything for an almond. That is what I used to train him. He didnt like to do any of his trickd in front of another dog. He was the alpha and to him it was humiliating to have to do tricks in front of the pack. He was a lot of fun. I have had a lot of dogs and a few cats but not all of them get to your heart the same. Thanks for all of the support guys.

They are different in how they engage with what you are doing and how they win you over. Enjoy him. They are a good experience.

My Condolences. A friend of ours is probably gonna loose a puppy due to Parvo. It's at the vet right now. But she said it's not looking good. He may not make it the next few days.

My mom gave her the puppy. It's only about a year old. It's part Chihuahua and forgot what else.

That's tough. Dog's truly are our best friend, it sucks when we have to say goodbye.

They sure are.

On another sad note. The puppy named "peanut" that had Parvo, died around 7:00 PM tonight.

Sorry for your loss, I have this on the wall with my boys (cody) pic in it. Very good poem in it as well. He was 13 1/2 when we put him down, roughly 2 yrs ago. Not easy to get over But time does heal all wounds I feel. We have a new guy (Riley)and it sure is a learning curve, almost like you never did it before.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friends puppy.

Thanks.

Boris1. That's a beautiful poem. It brought tears to my eyes reading it. Sorry for the loss of Cody.

Around 3 years ago, My dad lost his male Collie. The Collie was around 16 years old when it died. My dad went outside to feed him one day and found him dead. He couldn't believe it. He was in shock. That was and is still his best buddy.

I was the one who had to lay him to rest. As my dad couldn't handle it. And it was hard on me as well as he was the last of the 11 dogs I had to bury within 4 months.

First it was 4 puppies, siblings to the one in my avatar. Then the mother got struck and killed by lightning outside. So I had to lay her to rest, then we had to take care of her puppies. Then 4 more of the puppies died.

Then we were left with Rex. (The one in the avatar.) A month later after burying those puppies and their mother, I had to lay our dog Boots to rest. She was pretty old as well. Will have to remember how old she was.

Then a month later after Boots died. I had to lay the Collie to Rest.

That was a hard time on me. I was digging holes and Burying Puppies and dogs left and right. It seemed to never end. Luckily it has for now.

We thought Rex was gonna die. But luckily he pulled out of it and is still here being his ornery self. I love him to pieces.

I really need to get a pic of him now that he has gotten way bigger. I do have a pic of him as a puppy laying beside Boots before she died.

I'll have to rummage through my files on my computer and find the pic.
