I did not use wire in mine ether because I did not want it sitting on top of my pex in-floor heat tubes. I may pay for it in the long run but chose not to do it. Not sure if chairs would hold up the weight of a human on top of that blue board.

In the right applications wire reinforcing will do exactly the job it was designed to do...
It also has to be properly set in the pour...most issues are due to untrained labor...

With typical mixes with large aggregate...once lifted the mesh will stay on top of the aggregate that fills in beneath it as it's lifted...merely stepping on it will not drive an expanse of mesh to the bottom of the pour...This is not so with wet pump mixes where there is no large aggregate to support it...

Most poor examples are done by inexperienced labor...it does require a conscientious effort to learn a technique of placing concrete with wire mesh but it does work when applied correctly...

Another factor is crews that add additional water to make spreading and screeding concrete easier...this will contribute to allowing the mesh to sink further after it has been raised...

on many commercial construction pours there is usually an inspector and or an architect's tech. on site overseeing that the proper slump is maintained and the wire is properly raised within the pour etc., etc...

I have always had a good source for good cheap rebar, so I tend to over use it. Last I poured, I used a grid of rebar, but I still laid the wire mesh on top of it. I prefer to use both, as they both have their uses.

We repaired the three broken pipes and i dug three others just to be sure they were ok, since they were in the same area as the ones that broke. Get the gravel back in, packed it down and replaced insulation, taped tarp down to sides, put in wire and put back one run of pex. Two more runs of pex left but im out of daylight. So i piled rocks all over and i will be back next weekend it is supposed to be a rainy week so it would have been difficult for them to pour anyway. I will be able to get the pex installed and pressure test it next weekend.

The cement guy i am using will does fantastic work. I feel confident that he will get it done right.

Walls will be attatched with 5/8 j hooks holding 2x6 treated sill plates.

We all feel bad for your setback. Your labors from start to finish have been excellent. Considering the spectacular views you will be seeing for years to come, it will all be worth it.
