I think I'd use some red Loctite on those coupler nuts.
I saw your videos planting grass... looks like more seasonable weather now for the next couple weeks so you should get some good germination.

That sounds like a good solution.

I’d go that option also. Loctite is a good suggestion also.

When does timber frame start?

Ford, i was planning on locktite. The coupling nuts I bought are 2 1/8 inch long. Should have plenty of bite.
As for the seed, the buckwheat is doing pretty well already but the seed hasn’t take. Off yet. Just too hot. I’m thankful for this cooler weather that came in last night. Crossing my fingers.

Buckeye, my wife has been asking me that same question. I am going to sit down this weekend and verify my cut list and make the order next week.

My work schedule was brutal for a couple weeks following my last post. The last two weekends I opted to get caught up on some farm work while I worked to resolve an issue with the build. I discovered that my J-hooks are too deep in the foundation. I need a sill plate and then another 2x6 sitting on top of that to mount the sips panels on. Most of the 101 J-hooks are 3 inches or shorter. I spoke with my architect and a couple builders. There were 3 options.
1)Drill and install anchor bolts.
2)Weld another piecenof 5/8 threaded rod onto the existing bolts
3)use coupler nuts to attatch another piece of threaded rod.

I ordered a package of 100 coupler nuts.
And I will be cutting bolts and rods and installing them this weekend. I will also begin ripping my sill plates to size.

Doing the math, sill plate =1.5" + 1.5" thick 2 x 6. = 3" The coupler nuts might end up exactly where you need to put the final top washer/nut on.

What diameter are the coupler nuts? You will have to drill some fairly big holes through the wood to fit past/over them.

I would be leaning towards the anchor bolts and a sharp concrete drill with a decent hammer drill. But that's me.

Carry on.

That fescue takes at least 10 days after moisture or some heavy dew nights before I see any signs of life around here.

Kyle, I have a great dewalt hammer drill. It goes thru cement like butter. My biggest issue is this is 6 inch block. Driving 100 anchor bolts into grout filled 6 inch block would worry me about cracking. I will definitely have to make a bigger hole in the wood and I plan to cut all the bolts down so the top of the coupling nut is below 3 inches.

Thanks for watching the video. I appreciate all the support I’ve received.

I got a chuckle when you showed the neighbors dog visiting, and you talked it being shy until the day you were eating a bacon sandwich. Now it's your best friend. :)
I'm looking forward to your next stage of building too.
